Group buy: Pop N Lock Tailgate Lock (Ends April 08, 2009)

Does the OP have to pay for a $2,000,000 insurance policy? Pay wages? Electricity? Tax? Rent? Benefits???? No I don’t think so… your comparing oranges to apples. Doing business out of a garage with free labor isn’t the same as running business that requires a PROFIT…

I was commenting on a post made by someone else in regards to why this is taking so long. Its a combination of the fumbles of P&L and extreme pressure from dealers to have their orders be ahead of this GB in shipping. That statement was made by someone else. I simply explained it and why.

I have no "sour grapes". I don't care who P&L sells to.

My only other response was to the comment that I make a large profit on PopNLock. I was pointing out how a real business has things to think of that a customer run GB doesn't. Unless DGerm is incorrectly weighing the locks his freight charges with the USPS are in the $6 range with insurance... And a box doesn't cost $2, but the box, shipping to us, labor to unpack the box from P&L, pack the locks for shipping does...

My business does just fine, thanks. Six Sigma is a joke to most business people. I make little to nothing on P&L but I never intended to. Customers wanted to order the locks with other items we sell so we started selling them due to that demand.

Allow me to clarify how I feel... you guys got a great deal and thats nothing to be ashamed of. GOOD JOB!!!! PopNLock will suffer for having given you the deal. But, thats not your problem or your fault.

I am just one of the many who got in on the GB. I am glad that you clarified your view on this GB and that you do not have any "sour grapes". For a while I thought that it was TruckAlterations that had them. I am also glad that DGerm did the great job that he did in coordinating this GB. One last thing, we did get a great GB price but as you can see it came with a price of it's own in the sense that the P&L dealers have priority on the arrival of the PL5300. I am not complaing, I am just waiting here like everyone of my fellow TW members that are waiting on the PL5300's.

BTW, as of this morning word from P&L was 2-3 more weeks before any more 5300's ship... They are waiting for parts...

 

If P&L said 2-3 weeks, that will probably work out to 2 to 3 more months. Thanks for the update Luke.

 

I installed my PL5300 yesterday. I bought mine from my Toyota dealership so, I guess they service Toyota first.

Damn. Was hoping to have it before I made this journey. Well if anyone opens my tailgate, it will be filled with toys and stuff for the baby on our drive.

 

Your units may have shipped already but it didn't sound like from DGerm's previous posts... If they haven't then yeah, it looks like a few more weeks. Don't feel bad. I have 71 customers and counting waiting for 1...

They don't necessarily supply Toyota first...

Their first run was about 500 units. They went down the list I would imagine and shipped the first dealers who ordered back in October either some or all of their order.

Probably some dealer didn't have many backorders and therefore they have some in stock to sell.... While other like me ate their entire first shipment up just filling backorders.

I ordered my PL5300 in the Spring ( forget when) and I got mine fro9m my Toyota dealership.

Somehow I'm not surprised. I think from now on we really need to evaluate what we're getting ourselves into by ordering large amounts in GB's. It's a shame that mines not even in yet, and I didn't even order a 5300! Damn you P&L!

 

Any chance there are extras PL5300's left? in Ontario Van&Truck World is 25+ orders waiting. Pop & Lock just told me they are waiting on a partner manufacturer to deliver a part that is on backorder with them, after which they will begin their second production run.

 

...sigh...


I don't think we will have our group buy order fulfilled for several more months. Hopefully we see it by 2010 but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't.

 

Yup Im pretty sure that when P&L starts their 2nd production run we'll be at the bottom of their priority list.

well as you all may have guess, I have not gotten a confirmation to the order I placed 2 weeks ago. I will call this week when I get a chance off work and let you know what she says
