So I'm in need of a new drive shaft, but there's no way in hell I'm paying a Grand for a brand new one from Toyota. I've got an Access Cab Long Box which I believe shares the same DS as the Double Cab Short Box.

Does this particular DS cross over onto any other Models? (4Runner, Tundra 1st or 2nd Gen.)?

    Any help would be appreciated.

My current DS is attempting to grenade itself.

    What?

OP if you get one longer then needed you can take it to a drive shaft shop and have them mod it.

If possible I'd love to just bolt in a new one with no modifications.

Yes they've been greased. I know it doesn't look like it though.

Beavis: Anymore info on that 3 Gen Runner? Link or forum name perchance?

It should be noted that I do roughly 350-400 miles a week. This really can't wait much longer or spend a length of time in the shop.

Try the junkyard. I am sure the price would be much better.

Is that supposed to be a Krazie joke?

Most of them listed on car-part dot com are around $300-$350 or so, at least it's not a grand, but there's no guarantee on the u-joints or support bearing. Of course that only works if there happens to be a decent one close to you

edit: oh wow look at the chunk missing. Scary!

Trying the Junk Yards. Just wanted to see if there were more avenues to explore while I'm out looking. (IE - 4Runner DS works, I'll keep an eye out for a 4Runner at the Junk Yards too.) :)

Additionally seeing as the DS connects to the Transmission theoretically it could be a low Tranny Oil problem. But I'd have some wicked problems long before it affected the DS.

I'm in Canukistan. Pretty sure Customs/Brokerage would eat me alive. :(
