    Hey Guys,

I'm seeing a lot of guys buying new 2013 / 2014 TRD's. I'm in the market myself for a new TRD but after spending ALOT of time on this site I have some serious concerns about purchasing.

I have to ask all of you who have recently purchased 2013 / 2014 TRD's how you feel about all of the unresolved issues the Tacoma has had for 10 years running now.

These are wide spread issues with new Tacomas that are not being resolved at the build level mind you:

    Driveline Vibs / Axle Wrap
    Front Dif Vibs
    Engine Pinging
    Steering Wheel Shaking
    Clutch Slipping
    Clutch Pedal Squeaking
    Heater Motor Ticking
    Whistling noise on Front End
    Cabin Rattles / Poor Construction
    Frame Rusting
Radio Coming On and Going Off by itself

There's more I'm missing I'm sure, but I have been reading some pretty bad stories on here and several of these issues have happened to my on my current Tacoma. I love Tacoma's and just can't see myself in any other Truck but I'm gunshy at this point fellows.

What do you new owners think?

Did you know about these problems?

Do you not worry about it?

Are you having any problems now?

Do you regret buying a 2013 / 2014 TRD Tacoma?

    Thanks in Advance.

I have a new 14 and have not had a single issue. Knock on wood.

Also I was not even aware of most of the issues listed above?

I have a 2012, which is same as 13, & 14. Only problem was steering wheel shake. Raising psi to 35psi, over factory recommended 30psi solved that.(tires flat spotting) Otherwise no problems at al. Mine is all stock as of yet, but not for long.

    I bought a 2013 dcsb 4x4 sport in aug 2012 and I have noticed a few things:
    Just hit 19K miles

    1) in cold weather(below 10 degrees) I have hard shifts in 2nd and 3rd...goes away after awhile...dont know if this is common in cold weather since this is my first winter.

    2) brake pulsing

    3) On snow covered roads my abs kicks on way too much

    4) rusting on my tow hitch assembly

5)The sport auto LSD sucks and I wish I went offroad package:frusty:
(going to be doing the Yellow wire mod)

Overall I Miss my 2003 Tacoma sometimes, but most of the time I love my new truck and it definetly turns alot of heads being Pyrite Mica.
Was expecting a better off road worthy truck for the price, but I should have done my research more before walking on to the lot and falling in love with the
    HOODSCOOP hahaha

had 3, no problems. frame rust might not be an issue for you, but I would go over it with fluid film to be safe.

What do you new owners think?
I like it I just don't enjoy the front diff rubbing sound I only get them at 60 plus mph basically I think it has to do with highway speeds and wind.
Did you know about these problems?
Not untill I drove on the highway.
Do you not worry about it?
Everytime I hear the rubbing sound I think my tires going to fall off not sure if its my left or right tire.
Are you having any problems now?
Still having it but toyota wont do anything about it.
Do you regret buying a 2013 / 2014 TRD Tacoma?
Still love mine I went from a 2007 to a 2013 and its well worth it!
    Thanks in Advance.

    2) Brake pulsing happens on dry surface.. when using only normal breaking pressure

not sure what it could be...not used to having a new truck so I am listening closely to all sounds and how the truck feels on a daily basis...

Zero issues so far. I could not be happier with this truck. Drove home in snow and ice a few weeks ago, handled it like a champ!

Seems most peoples lift makes their vibs worse. You got your lift installed at Micheals Toyota when your Tacoma was new is that correct?

I just read in another thread where you said that you regretted trading your Pre Runner in on your TRD 4x4 - could you explain what you meant?

I wasn't aware that the Sport LSD was different than the Offroad? I really like the Sport over the Offroad so far from my test drives. But I guess if I'm going to put a lift on at some point that would be moot. I wonder if changing to a higher quality synthetic trans fluid would help your shifting issue.

Thanks for letting me know. Check out this link below - There is now a fix for this that cost about $200. Don't know how it would affect your warranty though.

Only issue I have Is my desire for a 5.7 or a supercharger lol

I had a '12 and have had my '13 for 11 months now and haven't had any of those issues on either truck. I applied fluid film on my '13 a few months ago to prevent any of the frame rust issues. My '13 gets

Minor vibe on take off. No vibes at all when I have 4 or more people in it. Brake pulse is so minor I sometimes forgot it's there. Minor rattle near the front passenger speaker. I'll get it fix when I upgrade the speakers. The USB port sometimes doesn't read my IPod. Other then that, the truck drives like a dream.

Mind if I ask why you got rid of your '12 for a '13?

    Thanks for letting me know.

    How are you liking that transition? That's what I'm looking to do - 2011 SR5 4x4 - 4 cyl to a 2014 TRD Sport.

Understand that the SPORT has no additional traction abilities than all other lesser cost models. Only the OFF ROAD has a rear locking differential and A-TRAC to provide four wheel drive action that matches rotation on all 4 tires without the cost, or issues of front lockers and steering!
