    ULTRAGAUGE INSTALL

Got the last of my truck's Christmas presents today with the Ultragauge.

Not set on the gauges I selected or the display order for the homepage yet (mainly HP and torque) but I don't really have any other things I want to monitor that are not on the first page already.

Still have to calibrate distance and MPG but I will do that sometime soon.

Got some questions for anyone with a UG or knowledge of one.

To calibrate distance, UG has its instructions (straight road, certain calibrate buttons, etc) but I was wondering since I don't really have any straight roads for this, is it theoretically possible that, if I used Google Earth path tool and determined exact distance on any stretch of road, it shouldn't have to be straight to calibrate distance?

Also, when calibrating MPG, do I have to do the calibration instructions everytime I fill up or is it a one time thing?

Lastly, does calibrating distance fix any speedometer differences, or is there something else I have to do?

I didn't have a straight road either. It still works if you know the distance. Mpg is one time thing. Will not fix the speedo itself but will fix the displayed mph on the ug

Ok just got the distance calibration done I think. The UG thought I had done approximately 2.83 miles, when I had actually done about 2.95, so it was off a little bit, but not by much.

I'm assuming once I get the 255's it will be off by a little bigger margin, so the UG will be helpful for actual speedo readings.

Now come and calibrate mine. I still haven't done it :anonymous:
I like the hp and torque things. I never noticed those. I have instant mpg, avg mpg, speed, batt voltage, engine temp, and intake temp displayed on mine.

    :D

I have MPH and engine temp as the two main ones on top, then HP and torque lower left, then instant and average mpg on the lower right. (I changed them since I took the picture yesterday)

It seemed like I was only off by about 1-2 mph once I got up in the 50-60 mph range with 265/75's.

Got another question for Luke (or other UG owners). You said the MPG calibration is a one time thing...but do I have to hold the up button every time I fill up after calibration or do I not have to do anything else after initial calibration?

Going to be purchasing Loco's used KM2 255's for a great deal here soon. He is selling 4 with 12K miles and 1 brand new, so I will be storing them in my basement until my 265/75/16 KM2's are ready to be replaced.

I would buy a set brand new when I need them but Phil gave me a deal too good to pass up. (Another special thanks to Phil!)

Nice! How wide are the trd wheels you have? I know they are 16s but forget the width. Will the 255s fit?

They are 16 x 7.5. 255's are rated up to an 8.5'' wheel, so I should be good even when aired down.

Yep! I'm excited to have my current tires wear down. :anonymous:

Oh ok gotcha. Yeah youll be fine mine are 17x8 and they are good. When i went to shoe creek i had them down to 15 psi and didnt pop any beads.

The km2s wear slower than you would think. Mine are still going strong after a few years now. You could always do the locker anytime mod find an empty parking lot, lots of skinny pedal, rotate tires and repeat until the new ones are needed haha

Yeah, my currents look pretty much brand new and they have about 10K on them right now, but I will probably take them off before they are really due, and could sell them for a little cash.
