BHLM questions

I did the BHLM almost a year ago and have had fogging issues with them even after them being resealed 2 times! This weekend that is going to change, I was wondering if I could put the headlight back in the oven like originally to separate them without causing any damage. I do not want to burn the lenses, also will it do harm to the black paint? Thanks

 

join the crowd. mine got fucked up because some dickhead didn't know how to seal correctly and there fucked. just smash them and get new ones.

 

I got black ones off of ebay about a year ago and had no issues up until about a month ago. I sealed it off where the water was getting in but theres still water getting into it and fogging it up!!

 

i pulled mine out and literally filled everything with sealant and they still fog. there is moisture somewhere in the lights and they need to set in the sun for about a day or two to completely dry out.

oh and dude you should go white with your truck. it would look sexy!

 

Open them up, make sure there is absolutely no water in there at all and then reseal the entire thing, not just where you think the water is getting in.

 

Yeah I dried them out pretty good when I had it out. I also used a blow dryer to help dry it out faster.

Yeah. I don't know, maybe theres another pinhole leak somewhere. I havent messed with them since. Didn't have the time too.

 

After I put everything back together I put mine back in the oven a bunch of times at 4 to 5 minute intervals. That seemed to get the ahesive goey enough to really bond everything back together. I guess I'll know for sure the next time it rains.

 

yeah i kinda gave up for now. when it gets hot i just pull the plugs off the back and let the moisture out.

Well I finished the lights yesterday and am about to put them back in. When I was cleaning them out I decided to smoke the reflectors and put them back in, not very noticeable but I like it. Anyways I used 2 5oz tubes of adhesive, 1 for each light, and I am hoping this will be enough to completely seal them but only the summer monsoon will tell.

Another to de-fog your lights is to drill a few very small holes into the clear lenses to provide ventalation.

I've done this on some vehicles I've owned in the past and it works great.

Using a 1/64" drill bit, drill 1 hole near the bottom of the clear lens, and 2 holes up at the top. The holes at the top need to be as far up at the top of the clear lens as possible and spaced accordingly.

Don't use a larger drill bit because then bugs can get in the holes.

After doing this I never had any more problems with fogging lenses, and I also never noticed any negative effects on bulb life.
