So it doesn't say "pending code" Do a hard reset and see if it still does it

Edit: plug it into the one in your engine bay and see if it does it still

I'm at work, so I don't have time to try the engine bay idea or do a hard reset until I get home, but I did sneak out and plugged it in the normal OBDII spot and this is what I got:

    1. UltraGauge EM 1.2 ***Scanning***
    2. UltraGauge EM 1.2 9141 found/Discovering Gauges/DOWN for Safe mode
    3. here, it shows the gauges, as it should
    4. After about 30 secs., I get this: 'ALARM/Trouble Code/DOWN to Suspend Alarm', then it goes back to the gauges.

Also, I just got a response from UG and they said I was probably looking at the OBDII upside down....

Weird, I just saw your pic post on the Live thread. Mine is doing the same thing just started "again" a few hours ago. But My ABS and Traction Control warning lights both come on when it does it. With in the last month I took it to the dealership because it was doing the same thing, and they replaced a sensor. I'll post up more details tomorrow. I wana know what the deal is too.

UG's response to you doesn't make sense tho.

Can't help you with the error message but on my truck, an 03, as long as I wait a few seconds between turning the key on and starting my abs light doesn't come on and abs functions normally. If I quickly turn the key and start the abs light will flash. So if your light isn't coming on I would say your fine.

But he still gets a beep every 30 seconds even after clearing the code if I'm correct

Yeah unfortunately I can't help with the error. And the 9141 protocal thing is normal, mine does it too, it's the code that pertains to our trucks the ug reads or something.

Okay guys, I think I may have figured it out. First, I don't think my truck has ABS, since when I turn the key to 'run', there is no ABS light on the dash, when all the lights are illuminated. What I did was go into the UG menu and into the 'Alarms' menu and suspended all alarms. I let it run for about 3 mins and no alarm sounded! It's cold as hell outside, so I came back in after 3 mins, but I think simply suspending the alarms may have done the trick. Time will tell. I'll keep y'all updated.

the alarm could have been anything, you really don't want to turn it off...usually when I get that annoying sequence with mine, I have a pending code (with no engine light coming on)...

what I do is read the code, write it down, clear and move on, if it keeps coming back then it would be prudent to followup on the code and replace whatever part it takes to bring it all back to normal...you need the warnings on so you can chase problems...

while I find the alarms annoying, it has helped tremendously with anticipating problems...

The only way to tell if you have abs is look under the hood. On the passenger side rear fender, forward of the fire wall you'll see a the abs control module with some steel brake lines coming off of it. Mine doesn't have abs....thank god.

you would know if you have ABS just from testing the brakes, get going 20mph on a clear straight road, then slam on the brakes, if you feel a rapid stutter on the pedal from the panic stop, you have ABS...

I personally don't like ABS, actually, I hate it....

OP, the steps you posted are normal. The only thing that's not is the Alarm you get after 30 seconds. I'm sure it's the UG reading a trouble code. Go to the menu and select trouble codes and check engine codes.

I think the reason you hear the beep after 30 seconds is because the UG detects the issue right away. Instead of "suspending all alarms" you should check the trouble code and turn the alarms back on.

Once you check the trouble code you can clear it. That should keep the alarm from coming on every 30 seconds.

That makes sense. I've been having the P0401 code for about a year now. Insufficient flow in the EGR system. It gets blocked and I clean it and the code clears, then in about 6 months, it gets blocked again. There are tons of threads on here about it, but no one really knows what's going on. I think it's a fluke with the '01's. People have replaced everything in the EGR system and the P0401 code still pops up...I'll double check with the UG, but I'm sure that's what it is.

Just checked, and as I suspected, no ABS....thank god

Yep, it was the P0401. I turned the alarms back on and cleared that one out. When it comes back on, I might try to figure out what the heck is going on with it
