What's been everyone experience with the TRD Exhaust System. Getting a new Taco in the next few days and it's only a $500 add....is it worth it.

    Better mileage or HP?

    How does it sound?

You get a few extra HP, but nothing near what they advertise. I personally like the sound, as its not too loud, but has a nice mellow tone. new, it might sound loud, but it takes a few hundred miles to break in. As for the price, you can get it for 350 or so online, and can install it yourself to save some cash. If you like the price, and convenience of having them install it, then you can decide if the price is right.

I was in chris4x4s truck when he had the trd exhaust.... Sounded good imho.
I wouldn't expect too much in the way of HP. Mileage either.

Personally, I'd save the money and just have a muffler welded in place with the stock pipes... Unless ur going for forced induction, I think the stock size piping is adequate.

But it is ur money and sound is subjective.

Try YouTube for vid clips..... Even then, ur speakers, and the recording may not be true to life.

I got the TRD exhaust added on when I got my 2014 Tacoma. I like the way it sounds, but I really don't have much to go on as far as a reference point is concerned. I'll try to post a video with the exhaust sound.

I love my TRD Exhaust. 100% worth it! expect ally if you're getting one of the TRD editions...and keep the theme...

Sound is good, look is good...

If you don't care about the look, you could go aftermarket for cheaper...I've heard others, and prefer the TRD tho...not too loud, not too quiet, and just the right tone...

I didn't get the TRD exhaust when I bought my '12 TRD and I regret that choice everyday!

At my last 5,000 maintenance, I asked for the parts price and price to install....$550 for the exhaust and $150 to install [IMG] No way!

I'm now thinking about ordering one online and installing it myself once the weather gets warmer...

Thanks guys. I miss my 06 that was totaled, but pretty exciting to configure a new Taco.

I hate the new radio... that's something I could do without.

    Bone stock for now....
I've had mine for about 12,000 miles, love it. I can only compare it to stock, but I can't imagine not having it.

I think I paid around $450 and installed it myself. Great add.

I had it on mine. No complaints. If you're looking for something loud you won't he happy but it sounds pretty good when you get on it and it's otherwise pretty quiet.

To the person saying a dealer wanted to charge them an additional 150 that's ridiculous. Unless the price went up the 500ish price is supposed to be the installed price. Seems like they're trying to double dip you on the install.

Absolutely love mine! Like others have said, not to loud and not to quite. If you're looking for something that you'll be able to hear while it's idling this probably isn't for you. However if you're looking to upgrade other exhaust components like headers or CAI then that is one of the best combinations I've ever heard on a taco. Just paired with the TRD CAI and I love the way mine sounds

Does anyone know what the muffler size is on the trd cat back exhaust? (not the inlet/outlet to the piping) id like to use one thats round and similar in size.

After hearing that the TRD cat back system uses the same 2.25 size tubing (yes i know its stainless), iv decided to replace just the muffler. Id like to keep it closest to how the trd system would be though. A cheaper DIY version if you will (oh btw OP, sorry for the thread jack, just keeping it alive)

Try contacting Bosal for their muffler they used for the trd system.

Sounds good, I've been thinking of this for my 2014. On another note, I was happy to see the little puff of blue smoke out of your exhaust on cold startup. Was wondering if something was wrong with my engine as it did the same thing the first couple hundred miles.
