    I think that is combined weight of truck, trailer and load on the trailer. That combined weight cannot break 8000lbs since I didn't spend the extra $48 on my registration for my Tacoma to run over 8000lbs. Konsta did, so he can run 8000-16,000lbs combined weight.

    Well that kinda sucks. I can tow whatever my truck is rated at (legally) as long as it's a single trailer. Double requires a different license.
    Takes a really prick of a cop to actually bust out the scales though. I've only seen it happen to semi's and 5th wheels.

    yeah all this is true. when you register a diesel they ask you about what youre towing so thats how i found out..

    But all reality it would really take a dick cop to push the weight issue, and comsumer guide compared the nissan and the tacoma towing a 6K payload (car on car trailer) you shouldnt have an issue.

    One perk is I live pretty damn close to Utah and once I hit Utah I doubt they are real familiar with Idaho laws. Haha. Not sure what Utah's laws are though and we have a lot of the same laws so that may not work out... haha

    When I registered my Tacoma the 1st time the lady at the DMV was convinced that I needed to purchase the 8000lb permit. I pretty much had to tell her I will not ever be towing anything to get her to not add it on. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't know either.

    If I recall correctly, which I probably dont, I think as long as your trailers are under 10k# and you less than 70' total length, you can haul doubles with a C lic. As long as it is for recreation. I sold KW trucks for a while and had to be learned up on all the licenses...
