Im still curious how he's going to stop his truck once engaged. Its not easy stopping in 4 low, cant imagine how it would be with a crawler...

Have no problem stopping in 4 low? Even with the 4.56. Maybe Tundra breaks will help?

Crawler will be hard with a 12.1 compound crawler ratio for sure. But tundra brakes should help a lot. I think you'll be fine.

    2. front diff w/ front mount & mounting brackets
    3. spindles/hubs

More control as in it dying on you on inclines constantly? :stirthepot:

I'm just messing, I don't have much experience on a manual. But seeing those that have driven a manual for years and still the truck still dies all the time on the trails makes me think it would not go well for me at all haha

Yeah, you caught me when I was way out of practice. Still am.

Haven't wheeled with an auto so I have no idea how it actually compares. The thing I like about manuals is the compression braking on the declines. No idea if an auto can do that or how well.

For me, even with the Tundra brakes, it needs a lot of pressure in 4lo, especially when the pads/rotors are cold. Its just stop or go, no feathering the brakes. Very annoying, hard on the neck, and feet tire quickly. It can be a challenge to control when going down the steep end of an obstacle. With that said, Ive found it easier to put my e-brake on when I need the extra control.
I wheeled my entire life in manual until this truck. Now Im spoiled. 5-sp is fun, but only for the first 20 min or so.

    really? odd.

You have enough fluid? steel lines?

and yea...i never tire of the manual. Sometimes i go..damn..auto would be nice for this one obstacle..or..a lower gear..haha

however i am very glad to have an auto when im driving around in St. Louis.

But nothing beats being able to truly pick the gear your in.

Both are fun and work awesome though.

downhill in manuals...100000x better haha no braking required..with an auto..almost always braking.

but..going up hill in an auto..way smoother.
