Guitars

I've been learning guitar lately and gotten pretty good at chords and what not. Been playing a $60 Mitchell just to learn on. I think I'm ready to step up. What would you guys recommend? Only interested in acousics.

 

I like ibanez and yamaha, my recommendation is to go to a music store and try them out.

If you're looking for something you can pick up at your local retailer, Ibanez makes some decent guitars. I bought my gf a TCY20 a few years back. It has an electric out and the thin body makes it alot more comfortable to play. 99% of the time I play electric though, I only have a cheap yamaha acoustic that an old roomate left in my house when he moved lol.

 

Also a good thing too look at is what type of woods the guitar is made out of. A solid top acoustic or all solid back and sides will sound better with age. Rather than a laminate top which will sound the same from the first time you play it. I would recommend takamine or yamaha for around $300-$500. Also epiphone masterbuilt makes an affordable all solid top back and sides acsoutics for $500-600. Anything higher Martin,Taylor, and Gibson.

 

Thanks for the input guys. I'm considering spending up to 500 bucks. This one I have sucks cuz when I hit the big e string it always vibrates somewhere around the neck. Makes the g chord sound awful

 

I bought my Yamaha almost 10 years ago...it's in great shapoe and was very affordable.

 

yamaha's are good guitars. if you can find one used in decent shape...you may get your price...

but 500 bucks is not a lot to spend on a decent guitar. and you wont find a lot out there for that price, that wont give you some kind of problem.

but, my best reccomendation for a cheap guitar is Schecter. unlike epiphone, you can depend on the quality (epiphones can blow ass, or rock. you can never depend on any 2 guitars of the same model to sound anything alike.) the irony being that Gibson, makes fantastic guitars, but you're looking at 1000 bucks for a decent one of those.

but in terms of cheap guitars I'd go Schecter than Ibanez. and Ibanez comes last, only because they all look like shit. unless you're in a Poison cover band. then they may be your thing.

 

Seagull Guitars have been rated very highly as well. Especially if you are looking for an acoustic guitar.

How about a cheaper model Martin? I've found a couple around 400

 

Get something used. It will sound better because the wood has aged and alot of time you can get them for cheaper even though they sound better.
