Looks about right for this time of the year with the winter blend gas.

I'm currently averaging 14-14.5 with the bigger tires and winter blend gas. Don't pay attention to my fuelly, I stopped logging in.

How fast are you driving? This time of year if I tried to blaze down the freeway at 70 mph with the six speed it would stay between 14-16 mpg.

I could keep my average a hair above 20 mpg in the winter, but that was with 75w-85 in the diffs, MT90 in the tranny, 0w30 in the engine, a full grill block, the intake flex tube removed so the engine drew warm air, and never ever letting my butt exceed 55 mph. Actually, certain snowy conditions are great for mpg on the six speed, like when you are trying to cross the state and can't go faster than 40 mph thanks to an ice storm. Leave it in 6th gear and enjoy the 28-30 mpg average.

ok I suppose this is good news. I was going to have my injectors cleaned and have a smoke test done to check for vacuum leaks. It seems my mpg is normal but its just me thinking its not. I wonder if switching back to oem 5w-20 or 30 will make a difference over the 10w-30 i have in there now?

Stick with the 30w oils for the 4.0L. 5w30 will use less gas on cold starts, especially if it's synthetic. It flows much easier in the cold.

Warming the truck up on cold mornings is killer, if you're doing that. For what it's worth, with synthetic 5w30, the calibrated ultragauge on my 4.0L read around a 1.6 gal/hr fuel rate immediately after starting in the cold. If I recall right, the one time in winter temps I had conventional Valvoline 5w30 in there it wanted around 1.8 gal/hr. Either way, that average mpg gauge would tick down like an oven timer. Never used 10w30. Compare that to idling at 0.35 gal/hr after it's fully warmed up.

I get about 15-16.5 mpg in winter with A/T tires. My gutless P.O.S. 4 banger Ford Ranger got about 17-18 in winter. Double the power, double the space and double the traction is 1000% worth it for the slight mpg hit.

Check your gas mileage again around May, they gas should be summer blend by then and your mileage should be improved.
