Love my off road. I do have the vide at 10-30 mph. It's going in for the 5k soon, so I'll have it checked.

2013 Sport DCSB 4X4 with 18K miles. I have several minor issues that drive me crazy at times.

Front door weatherstripping creaks and rattles on certain roads. It is right in your ear. I have tried everything to shut it up, no luck so far.

I have a shudder on hard take offs.

I could go on, but it's pretty petty stuff imo. This truck just needs to be refined, it's been a long time coming.

Here are the pics. Nothing fancy really. I had a list of a few things I wanted, Lift, wheels, tires and tinted glass. Doubt I will do much more. Fun part about doing the work on this truck was it had 12 miles. No greasy parts. In fact I sold the factory TRD coil overs and rear shocks i took off in 2 days. I will say though, the aftermarket Bilstein shocks from Toytec are WAY larger in diameter than the factory Bilsteins. Also the UCA are not stamped steel like factory. While I know the Toytec kit is pricey I did not want to deal with a kit that was blocks and spacers and extensions. I wanted something that bolted right in and I could align the truck to factory specs. I also decided on the TRD 17" wheels as I did not want have a black wheeled White truck. So far the KM2 tires are nice. A bit of road noise but not bad at all. This will be the cleanest the undercarriage looks as soon I will be snow bound and driving muddy levy roads hunting.

I bought my 2nd 2nd gen Tacoma knowing these issues and I love my truck. Yes it vibrates and yes it whistles but at least I know whats doing it. I just installed an ICON stage 3 lift on it and guess what? If that old needle bearing in the diff starts too howl I know exactly what it is and how to fix it. I didn't buy a tacoma for any other reason than the fact that I wanted another toyota tacoma.

Your 13/14 is not gonna break down and fall apart in 20,000 miles. These trucks are proven there are 2nd gen v6's on the road with 200, 000+ miles; it's mechanically the same truck (minus a few subtle differences).

The only thing that irks me bout my 2013 is that the lock/unlock button and the window lock buttons don't light up so its a pain feeling around for it in the dark sometimes. Other than that, I love it.

When I was shopping for my next Tacoma (in 2005), a salesman tried to get me to buy the SPORT, and when I asked about the lack of a rear locker, he said the locker was dropped and only the limited slip differential was available from Toyota. LIAR!

It was while taking the Sport test drive that I noticed the annoying hood scoop right where one needs to see when climbing steep grades for tire placement. That the scoop was fake and had no function was a real disappointment (to me) from Toyota. I soon discovered the rear lockers were still on the Off Road/ scoop-free Tacomas. A different salesman wrote me up for my '05!

Maybe wait to 2015 and see if they add the Trail package to the Tacoma? If you like trail off roading, then the Off Road TRD with A-TRAC is where you need to look. It is the closest to what a 4Runner Trail edition can do. If basic 4WD is enough, then get the Sport if you lke the way it feels. I mean 90%+ of the truck's use is on-road typically.

Hi OZ, Happy Boxing Day amigo! I am sure I told the story way way back... but the scoop lovers really got upset that I dared tarnish that thing they loved so much on the hood. Have a great 2014 in the Great White North! I would sure like to visit there again...

The Sport LSD don't suck at all from my perspective, have not had ONE issue with it thus far. It has handled anything thrown at it without difficulty. I will eventually get a 4wd but for the time being it has gotten me to/from without issues.

Recently sold my 05 access cab sport prerunner 6spd. Only problem I ever had were the squeaky pedals at around 15K. Toyota replaced the entire assembly and good till I sold it.

The LSD worked well for me. Pulled into a crowded camping site (24hr race) and next morn noticed I was in a soft sand wash. Then I had to clear a berm to get out. Wouldnt of got out under my own power w/o the LSD. Tires buried in the soft sand just past the rims. Had to rock it back and forth but the LSD provided a lot of confidence.

For some odd reason, Tacomas come with different plugs on each bank of the motor. After I changed them all to the same plugs, the idle smoothed out.

Had great gas mileage in the city but with the 285's, the best MPG I could get on the highway was 18.6. And that was driving between 65-70.

It was such a great truck. I'm waiting for my 14 DCSB 4X4 sport. Prob wont go bigger than 265/75's on the new rig as its mostly a DD.

    nice purchase
I almost made the same upgrade , but if have to eat about 4~5k and tundra wouldn't of been as loaded.

Decided Id stick with the taco longer, though i'm tempted to list it for sale .

I thought all TRD Sports from 05-08 had mechanical LSD.
