What Jason is saying is that it's not so much the mount itself but the door that is prone to fly off during wheeling. Maybe it'll hold up well but it could fly off.

and plus, the stupid hobby shop had like nothing for drill bits, so I really even couldnt drill holes into metal, so thats another reason I went with that door for now

But you could just relocate the mount itself. It's a nice mount, just not good on that door. IIRC, Greg used the same mount, just not there.

This is true. I've had mine come off just randomly driving around.

 

where else would I put it though? I seriously stared at my bed for 20 minutes looking for a decent spot to put it, and thats really the only spot I saw that would seem ok. Plus the hobby shop had nothing for drill bits, all half used or useless, so I couldnt* cut into the metal where I originally wanted to mount the antenna

Even crappy bits will go right through our composite beds. Just still through and use longer bolts with nuts. Then you can out it almost anywhere on the bed.

You could actually pull the cubby out (I think) to access the interior of that wall and install the mount next to the cubby, then reinstall the cubby.

gotta say, im seriously looking forward to moving off base and out of these dorms so I can have a place to mess with my truck and actually buy the tools I need and have an area to use them. My closet is becoming a storage room for my old parts....I have my old rims, running boards, and the buckets from behind the rear seats with my bed cover sitting in the closet. Which takes up about 3/4 of my closet space

Young one just ask before you do something to the taco.. So many of the people on here have so much knowledge & they are glad to help out a newbe. Theres nothing wrong with taking your time and getting good answers when you dont know something.. Slow down ,mods just for mods will F you up. Well thought mods are the cool ones..
