Mornin' fellas. I've been off since the 21st and don't go back till the 6th. Nice getting a couple hours extra sleep each morning - getting up around 7 instead of 5 is easy to get used too. :p

    Mornin all

Got my brakes fixed up, the drivers side cable was catching. I worked some PB Blaster down the cable from the split under the center console and It seems to work relatively freely now. That said, I don't intend to use it anymore.

Definitely! I still don't fully understand how they managed to engage themselves after they released but everything is free moving now.

Rear drums pivot alittle when they engage. Maybe they got close enough to grab and engage cause the cable never truly released

Possibly. For once I'm glad I don't have a limited slip diff. My drivers side locked so the passenger side spun, if I had a mechanical limited slip, who knows what would have let loose first.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma

We got another person now so we went back to every 3rd Saturday off.

    Shut up you. :)

Maybe. Sounds feasible. Still weird that it happened though.

I went there twice to get oil changes when I just didn't have time to do it myself since they are only about 10 minutes from my house. Nothing to complain about, except I had scheduled appointments both times first thing in the morning (7am) and both times I wasn't out of there before 915. I tried to get parts to price match Camelback once and that was a no go.

We just bought a 4runner from Westboro Toyota. Not sure about service, but sales was pretty decent experience. At least the guy we had. Not much haggling, we told him what we wanted, and they made it happen. Pretty painless experience actually.

My mom bought an 85 celica GT and Ira brought it out with racing stripes she didn't order, and wouldn't let her leave with it until she paid for the stripes she never wanted. She got mad after a while of arguing and decided to go out to the lot and start picking at the stripe with her nail to peel off the stripe. Salesman came running out and was like "ok ok ok ok you can have it!" Lmao.

My dad bought a brand new 2005 4Runner from Ira too... Well, almost. He talked to the salesman, agreed on a price, and put a down payment. We come by to take it home, and they pull around a 4Runner in Atlantic Blue (almost gay Prius powder blue) when he ordered one that was Galactic Gray (purpley gray. I hate the color but whatever lol). And they were trying to convince him pretty much that "whatever, it's still blue". He got his down payment back and went to McGee Toyota, who got him what he wanted and sold it to him at a loss just to earn his business. McGee is a great dealership too!

McGee Toyota is the worst one around. Check out their better business bureau rating and look at the feedback. I know people who have had to call the police to get their keys back to their vehicle which they were trading in. They love to play games their and try to force you to buy the car they want you to buy.

I wonder what Toyota corporate would think--they sound totally out of control!

Well damn! I was in 6th grade, so I didn't notice any bullshit going on. Haha. Then again my dad was trading in a subie with a blown head, so he didn't care

Check where the e-brake cable mounts on the drum. Right where the rubber sleeve of the cable goes over the aluminum mount they corrode out and break, then sometimes will not release correctly. We do them all the time at the dealer. Not to bad to do except for one bolt on top of the frame rail. Ratchet wrench makes it a lot easier.

As for the dealer experience, I work at one and hate dealing with the parts department. Nobody wants to learn and go above and beyond. Cant look up anything unless its VIN specific. If you cant look it up in the catalog it must not exist and it wont work since the catalog says so. Usually I find what I need and tell them what to bill out. They always come ask me when someone is trying to find parts and they have no idea what they are talking about.

Good techs are hard to find, especially ones that care about going the extra distance to get it done right rather than hack it to make better time. Finding a tech that is into Toyota's, knows about mods, and knows how to fix or fab things and not just replace parts is even harder to come by. For most everyone in the dealership working there is a job, doesnt matter what brand or what dealer its just a paycheck. I love working for Toyota and will never work for another manufacturer.
