Keeping my 07 till it dies. If the motor goes. Then its v8 or diesel time. I have way to much money in it now anyway to sell it off.

I plan on keeping my 2007 until I can't drive it any longer. I figure 20 years will put me well into the retirement age. Now if it was paid off that would be sweet but that's a little while yet.

If I got into an accident and my Tacoma was totaled, I would seek out the identical truck including year, color, and packages.

Or if I had extra funds I'd buy an F-150 Raptor. :anonymous:

For those interested, I traded my 2007 last night. The 2007 was an outstanding truck, so good, I bought a new one just like it. The 2014 is a DCSB 4X4 and includes the TRD Sport option and Nav. As a bonus, the new truck has dealer installed heated/leather seats and a painted (locking) bed cover and Toyota bed mat. For good measure they threw in a set of carpeted mats.

There was nothing wrong with my 2007 other than 6 years and 100K miles as a daily driver on public roads and parking lots. To the casual observer the truck still looked great. I'm very impressed with the way these trucks hold their value. It's a whole lot better than any other (more expensive) cars I have. I got a great trade allowance along with a good price on the new one. The 2014, by the way, has some nice upgrades and seems like it is also going to be a winner!

The only way I'd let go of my '08 is if a perfect storm tradein happened, or a wreck.

Literally the only minor things I'd do different are (a) access cab, and (b) 4by.

And I have zero issue with a standard cab 2wd in the meantime. My payment is manageable (less than 300 a month) and she's a peach to drive. Of course, she's a manual tranny, not that underpowered dog automatic ,,,

I will still wait for the redesign hopefully with engine improvements. The 2nd gens are really good, especially compared to the 1st gens. I can't wait to see how good the 3rd gens will be.

Keep my 05. I understand the value of VSC, but I hate TPMS, Auto-LSD and nav-screens that shine in your face when you're trying to drive at night.

If I had the money.. Sure! I love my 05, but the only thing I would do differently is get a long bed (hard to fit two dirtbikes with the tailgate up) and would pay a little bit more and get a TRD (The interiors (colors/comfort) on the Non-Trd are on my B-list)

Not paying for features I don't want is even better, and the multi-media screen is now standard even on stripped 2wd regular cabs.

I recently sold my 11 and bought a 13, but I was going after the double cab and the auto transmission. I had an access cab 6 speed manual. I'm happy I did so, I love this truck even more than the last one. I just don't like starting over with the payments. If my truck would have been paid off, I probably would have just kept it. No car payments would be nice.

I have an "09" Access cab with about 25k, I really like it but might trade for the double cab model, gotta say, GREAT truck, only complaint has been the stock tires. jmop

Unless I could pay cash for the new truck, I am keeping the one I have. Car payments are over rated.

If I could sneak in my 1st-gen-influenced opinion, without reading everyone else, I would keep your faithful truck till they come out with a newer design. My 12 year old truck is just an older version of yours-it just will not give me a good enough reason to get rid of it. I too can easily buy a new one, but given this one's incredibly reliable history, it would be ridiculous. Let yours grow your bank account.

My '06 is paid off and has been trouble free for the most part! It has never left me stranded! I've done wheel bearings(167,000+), a battery, front brakes(upgraded to slotted for hauling my camper, originals were fine)! I still love the thing!

I would keep mine until motor failure! (Doesn't even burn oil yet!)
