Does the DC 4x4 TRD Offroad come with that Silver front skid plate I see in pictures?

I like the way it looks in the pics but I never really looked when I was test driving and I noticed it lists some front skid plate as part of the package.

    Thanks

Yes, the truck with Offroad package comes with silverish front skid. The sport would have a chinsy black one.

from what i understand the silver skid plate is a dealer option and its not necessarily part of any package.

this is incorrect that silver skid plate is an OEM skid plate that is an extra accessory it does not come on any truck stock

Well, then I stand corrected. That is the only way that I have ever seen them (or maybe those were just the few times that I was paying attention)!

Every model has the black one. The silver one is a Toyota Accessory.

Someone on here gave me a great idea a couple of weeks ago.Paint your stock skid plate silver .Save the 1-1/2" inches of clearance you would have lost with shiny new one that won't stay shiney long. rustoleum metallic silver spray about $5.00 skid plate $ 100.00 plus

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
like stated above....if u are not going to actually use it as intended, then paint the stock one...if u are going to use it, there are much better options out there than the thin stock ones or the toyo accessories

Yes, at Least the TRD models.
The Silver Skid Plate accessory bolts directly over the black stock skid plate = 2 layers of skid plates.
The Silver Skid Plate extends protection to near bottom of stock front bumper

This answers my question, but I had sorta figured it out. My '09 TRD OR said "front skid plate" on the sticker, but it doesn't have the polished aluminum one, just what looks to be a black casing over the bottom of the front compartment/suspension area (I'm not a mechanic sorry :().

So is the black one that's there not too great either? I was hoping it was decent quality for minor offroading adventures.

Rap on it with your fist. Does it sound like it'll do much good after it takes a hit with a rock?

lol... whats actually hilarious is that after my post I went to grab dinner real quick and did just that. I came to the expected conclusion. Then came back here to see your suggestion of what I had just done.

So a replacement is in order down the line. Allpro looks like a good way to go, I'll have to research it a bit when money permits. :)

I can tell you my research thus far.

I went to a Downey IFS skid first. Almost identical to the AllPro except for the attachment point on the AllPro for their tranny skid. The AP also has recessed bolt attachments. The Downey's are on the outside of the skid. Which can get ugly if you take a hard enough hit. I smashed one of the rounded hex bolts that holds it on and had to cut a groove in it with a demel to get the skid off.
I would much rather of had recessed bolts. I'm going with the AP shortly here.
