Is this going to be ride height? Or slightly lower? reason I ask is I know you are going with fiberglass fronts but that doesn't look that you have that much up travel before you are going to hit something

Otherwise that thing looks bad ass

No, it's not at ride height in that picture. It'll be another 4 to 4.5 inches higher at ride height.

Got the axle under the truck for good. Just the steering and a couple of small things and it's off to the rear axle swap and three link.

Got Rays truck sitting on it's own weight again. Its at 24.25" at the frame at the front body mount by the drivers door. Thats .75" lower than we were aiming for. Not bad.

Stock frame heigh is 14.5". So that's sitting 10" higher than stock. Which isn't too bad considering the tires are 10" taller than stock.

Yes. Those tires are 40" tires and most of the time 24.25 frame height is where the trucks with 35 and 37" tires are. My truck is at 25" and thats after lowering it 5" from when we first built it. Thus the name "Beast" There are plenty of IFS trucks running around here that are taller than mine and those are sitting on 35" tires. Not to mention we can stuff those tires all the way into the wheel wells. Can't do that with an IFS and drop brackets.

Cheap or not the parts and workmanship appear to be top notch. And I still can't get over this being done in the driveway. Is it easier to build at a vehicle height closer to what it should sit at rather than on a lift as well?

To me it's not really easier either way. A lift has it's benefits but building it here in my driveway has been just fine. Haven't gotten to a point where we have said, boy I wish we had a lift.

Got more work done on Ray's truck today. Pulled the rear axle out and torched off all the brackets that needed to come off and got most of the steering stuff done today as well. We're very pleased with how it all is turning out.

Dan working hard as usual. I don't think anyone works as hard as Dan does.

We couldn't have gotten the panhard bar and the drag link any more parallel than that. Thats just sweet to look at.

I really like the jack stands somebody made. Reminds me of the custom ones they use on rally cars during service.

My first reaction to seeing this build thread was "OMG! NO! there's no way they're gonna do that in a driveway!"

Soon there's gonna be a youtube vid "reaction to photos of SAS swap in a driveway"

LOL Yeah, the wife doesn't really like it but she doesn't mind and neither do the neighbors. They just stare and watch and sometimes comment, "everything is so BIG on this build."

We have a few builders in this neighborhood so I'm in good company.

I think it helps that you have a level driveway. I wanna see you try this on a sloped one now. ;) HAHAHAHA
