whats a good price vs year/mileage to look for in a 2nd gen? my 01 is giving me all sorts of problems so wanna get rid of it and buy a 2nd gen. theres one local 2005 ext cab TRD 6 speed with 150k miles that i can probably get for 9-10k. does that seem reasonable? really only lookin to get it to have a vehicle to drive until i save enough cash to get one with a little less miles and need a truck to drive, if thats not a good deal what should i be lookin for in the 10-12k range? sorry if im a little open here just dont wanna be stuck with another broken truck leaving me stranded all the time

What's wrong with your current truck? How many miles on it?

needs rack and pinion, power steering pump, some frame rust, slaps pretty hard when shifting..still never figured out exactly what it was, needs front tires, three drill holes in the roof boogered with bondo from previous owner, and some other small stuff

all that pretty much right after rebuilding the rear end, clutch, new exhaust, new rear tires. i just dont wanna throw more money at it and not get it back.

    108k on it

    Rack and pinion is $300
    Power steering pump $100
Trans fluid $20 (hopefully is the problem)
    Front tires $400
Bondo sandpaper, primer and paint $50

Compaired to 10-15k for a truck with more mileage and will probably need a lot of similar things. I would keep your first gen. I assume its paid off?
