Fix the body damage or not???

My 2012 Sport has some minor damage....

Rear bumper banged up
Passenger side rear door dented in

All cosmetic and estimate totals about 2500 bux for both.

I've considered trading but don't know that I need or want to...or want the hassle.

Maybe I should make an insurance claim??

Thoughts or opinions?

Just fix it. Or learn to do sone body work.

 

Dented in below the line near the bottom, about size of 2 footballs end to end

Door is fully operable, cosmetic only

 

Depends on how anal you are and what you use the truck for. If you Offroad ...I wouldn't bother fixing it. If you use your truck to take prospective client around I would fix it. Just food for thought, if you take clients around.....buy a Lexus.

 

okay first of all... how did it happen?

and second.... you're considering trading in a whole truck for a little body damage? why did you buy a truck? its bound to get scratched, dented, and dinged its a vehicle and more so a utility vehicle. comes with the territory.

 

Not anal, rarely wash it (silver so don't have to). I keep inside clean for myself. Only off road are farm dirt roads/trails. No clients to impress. I work in construction / development.

 

How many miles on this thing?


I once had an ex gf side swipe a mail box with my Camry. Her mother covered the damages and a new paint job. Was about $3500 worth of repairs. Month later I totaled her after rear ending a lady doing 65mph on the freeway, as she was in the left lane and put it in reverse to make a median u-turn she had missed. Not sure I would ever do cosmetic repairs again, unless I learned to do it myself.

Wouldn't trade because of the damage. I trade every few years and it's why I'm on the fence on repairing cosmetic damage.

I fully understand the what's and whys of pickups, been driving them for 30+ years.

 

I wouldn't. As long as the door seals up fine just add a bit of touch up paint if you got through all the paint and call it good. Only reason I would do it would be to sell it, but then I would just get a new door from a junk yard from the same color/year truck. But I wouldn't sell it just for a few dents anyways, especially if you work construction. Bound to get more

Personally I would fing the cheapest place to fix it if you're going to trade it in. Trading or selling with the damage is going to really knock down the price I think.
