I have to park outside at work and even though my truck is new and starts on the coldest mornings I installed a Toyota block heater shortly after buying.
The temp was 11 degree's this morning and I pulled the Thermal Imaging Camera off the engine to see if the heater was working and I'm pleased with the results. The white area in the picture shows heat and the heat sensor is in the middle of the frame (green dot). The highest reading was 44 degrees and considering the outdoor temp was 11degree's I though that was pretty good. The truck started very easy and it doesnt stay in a high idle as long as it does cold and after a mile and a half the heater was blowing warm.

Years ago I had to park my T-100 outside and that is what got me started on a block heater. On the T-100 I set a timer to come on 3 hours before I went to work and it worked great.

We use the same MSA cameras.

We've had them for around 6 years and they have worked well and taken a lot of abuse. This camera is a little fuzzy and will be replaced when we get our new engine in a few months.
