Dude, that is a sick video, makes me want to go out and ride some more, though my bike doesn't have a muffler or any header/exhaust piping right now (needs a frame swap, my '86 Honda Reflex (trials bike) has too many cracks in it, so I just did some light riding in the snow, which is a blast! (and deceiving, since holes are filled in haha). Thanks for finding that video, I like it!

I love how she signs, do they do a voice over? (watched the vid on mute, I don't have a good way to hear computer audio at the moment). But that's awesome, deaf represent! :)

I've only driven a manual once, and that was after I had learned to ride dirtbikes, it took me a while to get the hang of shifting and whatnot (I used to shift without pulling in the clutch at all haha, I didn't know! (part of that was not fully understanding my friend teaching me, you miss small, but major details when you're deaf). On the other hand, my other friend who has driven manuals a lot, took to riding really easily...

I love riding, it's almost like flying for me, you just fly over such rugged terrain and the shocks really absorb stuff. (btw, can dirtbike suspension be considered long travel? with how it really absorbs stuff?). I can't tell you how many times I'll see some big obstacle ahead and think to myself "oh shoot, I'm gonna wreck or really feel that" but the bike takes it in stride haha.

ya. the voice over was, i believe, her mom. Ive gotten a lot better driving manuals since all of my friends have them. Im not super good, like i wouldnt do very well at a track day...but i can get in and drive no problem.

and i completely agree about riding the bike! The suspension is just awesome. I just mob over stuff as fast as I want, bottom out, land jumps, whatever and it just pops back perfect. Its all reflex by this point. And i think a dirt bike can be lt :D a stock moto cross bike can land a 100ft jump just fine...so id say thats lt haha!

my honda is getting torn apart even more today...got the whole cooling system apart to do cam holder seals and get a new temp gauge

They did do a voice over. You don't have to use the clutch to shift, just to start. I roll off the throttle for half a second, click it up into the next gear, and pin it. Have you considered a trailtech for a tach or maybe a shift light? Most motocross bikes only have 12" of wheel travel or so. There are some gnarly desert dudes with LT bikes pulling 20" of travel out of custom Ohlins shocks, but they are like $7000, just for the shocks.

20"! holy shit! got a link to a good video of that? soudns crazy!

oh ya, for got to mention that. I hardly use the clutch to shift up, never use it to shit down.

and that tach sounds like a good idea. maybe a green yellow red light? just little leds for you to glance at?

I don't know, by buddy in socal was doing the build on it, don't know if it ever got done or not. Let me look and see if I can find some pics...

In other news, my hillbilly engineered ammo can intake splash guard dealio is done. Maybe I won't have to clean the filter so often now.

Went for a ride up Moonlight to flex out the suspension in the day light.

Measured 10.5" hub to fender on this side. My bumper was about half way between my knee and the ground here:eek:

and about 33" on this side. Measured 31" with both sides drooped out on the lift.

The shackle still has a long ways to go down as well, but I think the leaf pack is twisting so much that is won't go much lower:notsure: Maybe Logan has some input on this. haha I'm guessing that when I strap is the straps won't let it go that low though.

Over 20" of travel from side to side though! :woot:

^sweet. The bushings will limit articulation some. Deaver makes the "baja bushing" that will help a lot, or just let those ones break in a little. 20" of travel is hard to beat...especially with that style shackle. Those are far more stable than the my 12" over the frame style for sure.

Edit: You can strap it wherever you want. As long as your driveline is happy, run it at 20" and just tilt your shocks a little more to get the travel.

Yeah, but I'm guessing when it is strapped at like 30.5" It's won't get much farther than that when at an articulating it like in my pics will it? Those bushing would be cool if I didn't run straps, but I'm guessing the straps will defeat the purpose.

You can strap it wherever you want. The point of limit straps is to limit droop so your shocks don't get damaged. If you tilt your shocks forward some, you can use every inch of travel available, even 30.5" from center of hub to fender. Anything more than that will be limited by the straps...see what I'm getting at? If you had johnny joints/baja bushings then you might be able to get 32" or so... but it's hard on the main leaf to go to those extremes. Personally, I strap mine where the leaves start to splay out.

Doesn't look like it, but maybe there is a different dog bone or something. I know the hillclimb guys get crazy numbers out back, but because of extended swing arms.

Yeah I understand that. Tim says to strap the kit right before the shackle hits the hanger. Like they are sitting in this pic. Hopefully the shocks will have enough travel to accomodate that. Tim seemed pretty certain they would. If not I guess I will sell them and pick up some 18's.

Hmm... Just went to get into my toolbox and it won't open. I think I have it piled too deep and something is hung up on the latch... I went to a parking lot and tried some maneuvers and it still won't open...

I know. We told her to get a 4runner back then but she fell in love with it -shrug-

Keep telling her we don't trust him but she claims he's the best mechanic ever. Even though he's tried to charge us extra for nothing before and forgot to do things before and attempt to charge on a recall problem. It's humming really bad in the back and so we made her take in it and he's like "well I replaced blah blah in the front"...even though the sound was coming from the back and we STILL hear it after he did his "100 point check".

We just got it back from the shop about 3 days ago because it was burning oil real bad and spraying it all over the engine. Step brother was driving it today and heard a clank clank crash. Pulled over and a big piece of metal is hanging down. He said it was only being held on by one bolt and appeared to need 4. Might be the sway bar or something, not sure yet. But meh
