There isn't anything to do but work in ND, so it's all in the hours!

And don't forget the best part of ND: "There's a woman behind every tree.......there just aren't any trees........."

Seriously, Good luck with the plan!

I did all that. CDL, full endorsements, and drove for a while. About 6 months. Driving the truck was second to none. Loved it! I said F-it tho. The lifestyle will kill you. In the 6 months of driving I did, never once did I see a healthy looking driver. I did save up enough money though to buy my taco in cash, paid in full. When I started I had a pretty good program. Schneider hired me for a dedicated Wal-Mart run. LA to Seattle twice a week hauling frozen foods in a reefer. I ended up falling back on my college degree in Graphic Design. I now make WAY more than I ever would have trucking. Maybe when i retire I will go back to driving. Hauling cars or something. Anyways, good luck with it. Watch your drivers fatigue, do you pre and post trips religiously, stay safe, and watch out for idiot driver because they are surely not watching out for you.

Congrats, Norman! You heading to Williston? They're always hiring truckers there, but have a place to stay for the first few days. I know that place in depth now. lol

I heard you can make decent money driving a rig but....you just about have to live behind the wheel especially when you are a newbie.

    WOW,

true recruiting 101 in here...100k driving someone elses truck...

Dakotas are going "NUTS" but you will work a ton of hours to make the big $$$$$...It can be done BUT anything you did in TT school will ba a cake walk compared to hauling bilge water, slime slurry or just DRY on those roads...
It will make you a better driver when you finish; $hit jobs always help a resume.....

NEVER STOP reaching for that DREAM.....even if it is "jumping out of planes" :)

I Wrenched for a living until I sat in an old 359 Peterbilt..... 31 years later I still enjoy driving....;)

$100k easy up there in ND. One of my trucking friends there doesn't see his (WA imported) girlfriend too much since he's working all the time, but he's over $100k. My trucking supervisor friend is making around $250k, or so his wife says. Watched a man up there get promoted to a supervisor in front of me during a hotel breakfast! lol He wasn't a trucker, though. ND is where it's at if you can put up with the weather, long hours, and lack of women. :)

I jumped out of a airplane once, and I don't like hights:eek: It was a solo jump and not as hard as I thought it would be! (Getting out of the airplane that is.):D My radio cut out about half way down, long story short, ended up landing "with the wind" (not a good idea) and I "flared" to soon (instructor told me to flare) and had a very hard landing! But I walked away!

I'm up here in ND working like crazy. I don't drive a truck but I work for an oil company. Got any questions for me?

Fastest way to 100k is become an operator for a service company. They use computer logs so you go by DOT regulations. Most of the operators I know that drive with their CDL's make between 80-130k a year. Plus you work a 15/6, they pay for your flights in and out, and pay for your living while your here.

^^ Good deal. Housing is the most important thing. Visit Scenic Sports and Boomtown Babes Espresso. You'll love both places for different reasons. ;) Stay warm, bud!
