manual or automatic, which do you prefer and why?

Yes, I should have clarified. 1st generation is what he was referring to about the transmissions. He told me to stay away from the 2nd gens entirely.

 

If you don't know how to use the hand brake for an uphill start, you really shouldn't dare drive a stick in a place like San Francisco.

I use my clutch to hold me on hills all the time. Even steep hills.

 

Yeah that white smoke pouring out of your truck is your clutch. Seriously though that's about the worst thing you can do to it.

 

You don't smoke it... Never have I smoked a clutch. I just let the clutch out the the grab point before I let off the brake so I'm not going to roll back much. Then off the brake and go.

 

Oh ok I thought you were holding the truck on inclines for extended time. I've seen it a lot, some retard rolling forward and back on an incline instead of just using the brakes. Then they complain that their clutch only lasted 80k miles and that it must be a POS

I drive through Boston traffic for an hour every day and i still would not consider an auto

 

The automatic in the Tacoma is nice for driving around town since you don't have told shift in stop and go traffic.

 

I would kill for a heated shifter and a heated steering wheel for that matter . At 50 below , any additional heat is better than a pair of gloves

 

My OCD prefers a manual, gives me something to do while driving. Plus it's cheaper to fix.

 

it was 5 degrees this morning and I agree fifteen minutes of freezing cold hands sucked, it was literally like gripping ice

 

Being able to work 3 pedals at the same time with 2 feet FTMFW!

Gotta learn how to keep your foot on the brake, let the clutch out to the catch point, give it the gas, and then slide your foot off the brake.
