Yeah I have the same problem. I barely have steering when aired up and at a stop. Aired down I can not steer, especially on the rocks. It is extremely annoying.

Working with so many Jeeps on 40" tires and hydraulic assist has got me thinking. They can turn the wheel aired down with 1 finger. Obviously a solid axle is totally different, but I'd like to do more research on it for IFS rack and pinion.

i think as soon as you do hydro assist your going to start tearing balljoints apart and bending the tierods. going to have to upgrade those for sure. and hopefully the seals on the steering rack can handle the extra pressure.

Thought you need a mechanical link to the rack to keep it street legal in canada. Would be cool if you could stuff a howe steering rack in the stock location though.

If that is a law, who the hell is gonna catch you here? No one, unless there's a problem, and someone notices. But I'd sure like to be able to steer.

But with hydro, doesn't it also take away any steering feedback? Which would be nice to have, especially with ifs, where shit is weak like you mentioned. If only we could get more push from the factory rack.

Being lifted on 315's and no mud flaps and my tires sticking out past the fenders im surprised I haven't been pulled over and given a v.i. notice lol.

To a point I think it does dull the feel but thats a compromise you might have to live with. You might be able to get more push by opening up the factory pump a bit. I know nwitaco was going to try it with his stock pump.

Full hydro steering is illegal in California, and I'm pretty sure throughout the US. I wouldn't mind upgrading joints and tie rods to have hydro assist.

The only thing you can do is increasing the pressure from the pump or go full hydro with a howe rack. And I would be scared of blowing the seal out of the stock rack with a stronger pump.

I see a lot of Dunes pics from you two. Is it because its the closest thing to you guys or do you like the sand better then dirt? I'm from AZ so idk how far things are in cali.
