I bought a set of adjustable 5100s for the Front (24-186711) & Rear (24-186728) of my 2012 TRD Sport, i have a Canadian version 2012 with the stock 4 leaf setup in the back.

I have been reading on here for a while about guys with the same rig setting the Fronts at 1.75" to level out the truck with the stock 4 leaf and still ending up a little (1/2") nose high. Is this common ?

According to the ESSEX website the rear Bilsteins are adjustable from 0" - 1", will there be any height difference just by upgrading to the rear billys? Is there a setting on the rears to make up that 1/2" nose high rake ?

    BTW

Any Canadian shoppers looking for a set of Bilsteins ESSEX Distributors http://www.bilsteincanada.com is offering free shipping right now !

I believe the 0" -1" suggests that this Bilstein will work with a stock truck to a lift height of up to 1".

Different stock number for higher lifts.

Rear shocks don't provide lift. 0" - 1"means the shock can accommodate a 1" rear lift (by blocks, add-a-leaf, whatever) without limiting rear suspension travel.

Hard to say whether the fronts set at 1.75" will make your truck nose-high, especially when there can be an easy 0.5" difference between left and right. Measure the hub-to-fender distance on your specific truck at all four corners and post the numbers here.

    Thanks for the responses guys...guess i misunderstood the 0 - 1" thing.

Without any ride height adjustment is it still worth upgrading the rears at $100 a pop ?

I just ordered the shocks today so it will be a bit until i get them on the truck...i'll do a before after measurement to see how it ends up.

if you gots 5100's up front, best to have the matching ones for the rear, the valving is compatible, you start mixing and the truck will ride weird over bumps, front to back....

Set them at 0.85 and you won't be nose high.

I'm going with new coils and 5100 w/ a 1 1/2 inch aal in the rear. Just want to bring up the front a little. I don't personally like level trucks because as soon as you put something in the back or hook up a trailer, you are nose high.

How much lift do you want when you are all done? You just looking for a cheap way to level out the truck?

My goal in buying the Billys for the front was just to level out the truck and give myself a little more room up front for a bigger tire. i bought the rears thinking for $99.99 each i might as well do all 4 corners...

I was just looking for a cheap / decent way to level the truck, according to everything that i have been reading on here the adjustable 5100's seem to be the way to go.

The tire position with the suspension at full tuck is the same with stock shocks or with Bilstein 5100s. You won't be able to fit a tire larger than 32" (265/70-17) without trimming the plastic fender flare. Note stock tire is 31".

Thought about this for a while and I think I'm going with OME 883 springs and Nitrochargers up front.

i have the Canadian version as well and put the Bilsteins on the front, set at .85. The front is still a little lower than the back. I'm going to set them to the next higher position.

I have a 2013 sport. I installed my 5100's set at 1.75" and have the stock 3+1 rear leaf. I personally didn't like the way it looked. It almost looked nose high depending on the angle. I ended up putting a 1" block in the rear. I had an AAL on my last truck and I didn't like the way it rode, so I went with a small block this time. Looks good and rides good.

When you measured it out was it actually nose high? Ive read a few posts that guys said they ended up about 1/2" high in the front at 1.75"...

Whats involved with changing the setting, do you have to completely remove them to do it ?

^Yep. Remove the shock from the truck, install spring compressor to remove the spring, then get at the snap ring under the spring perch. If you pay a mechanic to do it, the labor can exceed the shocks' part cost.

Just set the 5100s to 1.75" and go from there. Since you have a long bed, there's more weight on the front axle, so you will probably get less than 1.75" lift in the front.

    This^^^^

I don't remember my measurements, just looked nose high. Particularly on the passenger side due to the "Taco lean".

I'm not going to say you can't change them on the truck but it would be hard.

^Not enough access to install spring compressors while it's on the truck. Keep in mind you have to compress the spring quite a bit - you have to lift up the spring perch to expose the snap ring.
