Ammo prices have certainly cut into the desire to go out and burn a pile of ammo! Not to mention the ability to replace the stash of rounds expended. But I still like to get out and fire a couple mags worth of rounds and make the most of them by concentrating on sight picture and trigger press thus making the most out of the practice session.

Yesterday I finished up an AR15 build based on a Spikes Tactical stripped lower that Aim Surplus offered a while back at a great sale price. It stated off as a low budget build using a Bravo Company 16" mid-length upper I picked up this past Summer, but I ended up using a nice Midwest Industries free-float rail and Guiesele trigger, so it is pretty nice now.

If you have a mil spec upper and lower that fit loose to each other just use a $5 accuwedge at the rear takedown pin to stop the annoying sloppy fit. No harm and makes the carbine "feel" a lot better.

The "loose" part does suck but they sell a rubber piece shaped like a small wedge that fits between the upper and lower. Takes that rattle and looseness out. I had an old SP1 once and it needed this piece to keep it tight and rattle free. It's cheap and it works.

I have seen them in black, the one I had was black that blended in with the color scheme of the rifle a little better than blaze red or orange.

Is your rifle new, have you disassembled it and gave it a good cleaning and made sure it was lubricated. Thats usually the culprit for malfunctions out of the box. My M&P has never malfunctioned in thousands of rds regardless of ammo type. Im not doubting your intelligence but this is a decent how to video. http://youtu.be/ed9oU8V7-Uk

Yeah it is new. I will definitely be breaking it down over the next couple days before I take it out again.

Ill definitely get him one of those wedge. Thanks guys!

My LMT Lower and DD upper on the other hand is super tight. After 2000 + rounds I still can't pull or push the takedown pins by hand. I need a bullet and a tapping motion to move the pins.

I can push my pins but my CMT upper / noveske lower don't break down unless I "break" it over my knee haha, super tight fit I love it.

    Congrats, Jamie.

I built one of the anderson lowers with the blackhawk lpk and put on one of the PTAC uppers from black friday ($438 after shipping and transfer fees). Traded it to my wifes uncle for a new lazy boy recliner the next day

Transfer fees for an upper? Why? There's no s/n, or am I just confusing that transfer fee for the lower

Nice looking lower! 225? What a deal for a complete lower! I just paid 240 out the door (after fees, taxes and transfer) for a DPMS stripped lower with CA bullet button and 10rd mag. Another 210 for Magpul grip, buttstock, enhanced trigger guard and CMMG LPK. Cali sucks!
