HEY WAIT. If the truck is going from them to you then you can do a family to family "gift" transfer. The reason they ask for value of it is so that you can pay taxes on it. A parent can gift the truck to their son/daughter and taxes do not have to be paid.

I see. I'll just go to the DMV and figure it out. I was hoping since it's family to family you can do it all online but no go

 

Do you have a AAA membership? You might be able to do it there if you have one.

 

According to the DMV info, you don't fill out Reg 256 since it isn't applicable to you. I'm pretty sure you do have to go in to transfer title (or AAA as noted above).

hey norcallers. Heres my Moab situation that im just putting out there to think about.

1. I fly out here after classes end for a wedding
2. I ride with someone to Moab and crawl with other people
3. I get a ride back with some folks from Fort Collins CO.
4. Everyone is happy.

 

When I bought a car from my parents, (a long time ago so things might have changed) I paid $1 signed the title over and sent it in.

i might just drive down there my self, its a good enough deal that gas kinda don't matter.

 

it's a long shot but if anyone close to campbell are coming up to east bay let me know.

 

i live near Campbell but not near east bay.

 

Cost me $15 and about an hour waiting for the transfer.
