Really want to build a faux dissipator with a mid length gas block and pinned front sight. Just need to find a deal on one.

Shot my AR again the other day, it functioned fine with the different mags i had on hand, and i've got 6 Pmags coming to me whenever PSA finishes processing my order.

    Sounds fun.

My next build will be a 10.5" pistol using the Sig pistol brace

Right on. I don't shoot my 11.5" 223 upper anymore now that I have a 8.5" 300 BLK upper. Started doing the math and realized the BLK is a much better short barrel caliber. Still love the 223 for longer barrels though.

What length barrel do you prefer for 300 BLK?
This summer i'll be turning 18 and move to a free state so i'm gonna make a FFL trust and start submitting paperwork for a SBR and possibly a suppressor.
And i'd like to build a 300 BLK SBR to hunt with (all my hunting is 100 YDS or less)

If you're going to get a can, I'd say the shorter the better. 8" to 9" is pretty standard. I have an older, longer AAC can (762SD) and even with it on, my gun is almost exactly the length of a 16" carbine.

    Ok, thanks
To me the 16" AR my dad has is pretty short (especially when I'm used to my 30-30 hunting gun, and my AR with a 18" barrel and probably a 3" muzzle brake on it)

I don't haha I usually buy from rainier and BCM. I never really shop at PSA anymore since I didn't like the quality of their LPK's. I don't buy completes anyway, I have a bunch of stripped lowers I just plan on building. Got a noveske billet chainsaw, seekins sp223 and an 80% that I need to finish. And my forged seekins has a pretty good upper I built on top of it ;)

My last stripped lower cost me 120 after tax and fees. It was an Anderson lower.

Anderson's are pretty nice. I want an AXTS ambi lower but those are like $450

I bought my Anderson for 140....PSA now has then for 50 before transfer and shipping, but I think my build was worth every penny I paid for it.

Anyways, I'm relatively new to the AR platform, so this may be a stupid question.

When I pull the charging handle back, it does not feel smooth at all, it feels almost like there is grit in it (very fine grit) or possibly like 2 bead blasted parts moving together (fine beads though). Is this normal? And is there anything I can do to make it smoother?

The only reason I ask is while playing with a friends AR it seemed a lot smoother when pulling the charging handle. His was a Sig piaton AR so I suspect that had something to do with it.

I'm used to semi auto handguns and .22s, so this may just be the nature of the beast. My AR has only had 100 rounds through it as well, so I may just be dealing with a break in period. The next time I go out shooting I am going to liberally apply Frog Lube shoot a few mags and clean and see if that helps unless there are other ways.

Yeah, to me most lowers are the same. Unless you get into the fancy ambi lowers or the super flared Magwell lowers. I got an LMT conplete that I paid 350 for. It's not fancy but I like it.

Does it sound gritty too? Only thing I can think of is the buffer tube is dry. My buddy's ar felt gritty. We greased the buffer spring and used grease on the bcg, polish the hammer and the gritty feeling is gone.

When I said grease I meant lightly grease it.

I didn't think of the buffer tube being the cause....I'll grease it tomorrow and see what it does, I haven't done much with the tube because I didn't think about it lol (shoes you how new I am to ARs

It does have a slight sound to it, it definitely doesn't sound like polished metal sliding against each other, sounds like 2 pieces of bead blasted metal rubbing
