I sold ford for a time. Gave my 'modding' client base loads of ideas. Even a helping hand whenever asked.. Almost grabbed a Platinum myself. Wanted to wait til it came with the turbo. Then I drove the 6.8 Raptor. Boy was I torn between the two. Wanted the engines swapped. Then recently i see that someone did just that.

The Ford dealership let me gallivant in a raptor while I was waiting on some paperwork to be done. Fun truck... not worth the money imo. I can sink a little into mine and come out with same thing minus the engine. Eco raptor gets good mpg tho ^^

I know. neighbor has one. babys it. I smirk when I think of the cost of it. Then the pricing I could have got the truck I want and then invest in better suspension and still be less than his.

Really dig this setup... have some room here but there is 'something' in the way. I haven't had time to determine what component is in the way. Have the service manual so I'll take a look until I can get under the hood. Looks like earlier 2nd gens had plenty of room in that area.

I have a 27f in my truck. Would like the 2nd battery to help out with a larger inverter / wench / additional electronics.

A bit of a dream here. But for anyone, myself included, check these monsters out.

    http://lithiumpros.com/shop/12v-deep-cycle-lithium-powerpack-with-bms/

My current batterys are weighing in at 78# each. for a total of 156#. If I had 2 of these LithiumPro battery's (29# for starting/ deep cycle and 31# for the Deep Cycle) I could be in the 60# range. Thats less than the weight of the one of the current monsters I have.

These spec out to better than the Current 31M's, in almost every area from what I am reading. Been watching these for a long time waiting for a nice price drop. NO JOY..

Thats comparing them directly to the http://www.odysseybattery.com/battspecs.html 31M-PC2150 Which , spec wise, the POWER X2 is, my battery's/.

Get one or two of the LithiumPro's, at 1/3 of the weight of a comparable group, yet superior spec'd in every other way. Well, that is, from what I can tell.

Yeah, for the people that are concerned with weight. Especially on a heavy rig. These are a way to cut POUNDS off without sacrificing anything. It is at a cost though, big $$ per #.

On my rig, I am out with my wife, our 4 children, and myself for a grand total of 6. I have tried to cut weight in many places, this could be a great way and not loosing anything and gaining additional power reliability. These can fully charge in less than an hour.

Can I run 2 of these Marine batteries in my truck?
Seems like a little less CCA's but more amp hours than the standard 27F.
    What do you guys think?

    For comparison
    27F
-diehard gold has 825 CCA, 140 reserve, ~58.3 amp hours*
-Bosch has 750CCA, 850CA, 120 min reserve, ~50 amp hours*

    27DC
-Kirkland has ~600CCA, 750MCA, ~276 min reserve*, 115 amp hours
-Everstart has 720MCA, ~276 min reserve*, 115 amp hours

    *= calculated

Here are some pictures of my 3 battery setup. I originally went with 2 but after a bad solenoid and having to up the amp rating I had an extra battery so i figured might as well put it under the hood. I have a red top main battery and 2 yellow top aux batteries. I still had room to get a snorkel in but now I have no extra room for anything under the hood. I have a switch in the cab to link the batteries if needed but other than that its all automagical. The black box on top of the batteries is a charger/conditioner much like you would find in an emergency vehicle which allows me to plug the truck in and charge all three batteries at once on shore power.

    Some tips.....

Relocating your batteries away from the high underhood heat will increase the the total number of cycles because there is less corrosion of the positive plate grids. Match the batteries and the charging system, so they can be fully recharged based on your driving habits. Use deep cycle batteries with thicker plates that will produce enough cranking amps to start your engine in the coldest temperature you might experience. Mind the wiring and isolator voltage losses to achieve fully charged batteries. Maintain 'em.

Subbed. There are some creative ideas on here. Some day down the road I might want to go with a dual battery setup.

Just completed stage-1 of my dual battery setup. I have the Optima red top installed in the factory spot, replaced the alternator with a higher output, and replaced all of the main power cables (positive and negative) with new terminals. Here is a pic of the battery. I will have the details added later to my build thread. Next step will be getting the yellow top and the battery tray installed on the passengers fender, then the new cables there, and the 140A battery isolator.
