Has that's what I thought and when my stock tires go bad, I'm going to put 265/75/16 on the truck maybe

265/75/16 tires are perfect on this truck and they give it a much more aggressive look then that of 17 or 18" rims imo. Not only that if you wheel this is more surface area on the tire to air down so the risk of losing your bead seal is way less then on a 17 or 18" tire.

I have been totally 100% happy with my tire/rim combo. The lifting springs should suit you perfectly too.

I went with coilovers ;) these 5100's will be up for sale soon.

Great info in this thread. I just got the 5100's for the front and I think I may play it safe and go .85 until I do something to the rear. Just seems like too many people get nose high, although others seems perfectly level. Bah, I can't tell you how much I debate .85 and 1.75 in my head.

I think it's pretty funny that the guy who put 1st gen parts on his second gen is being critical of lift blocks not being intended for the vehicle. Sure they aren't but similar things have been used since the cart and buggy days. Besides a bit of axle wrap because these trucks have stupid-soft springs a 1-3" block isn't going to hurt a thing. And a spacer lift up front really isn't doing anything different than a 5100 shock with a preloaded spring seat is doing. I would prefer a 5100 setup myself but primarily because Bilstein makes a heck of a shock. And of course it's designed to operate with a bit of preload unlike a stock shock. But then again I see no need to lift a truck unless you're putting bigger tires on it. And to do it right without screwing up the suspension geometry and causing additional stress on the driveline and suspension is expensive. Not to mention ring and pinion changes to make the truck perform correctly afterwards. It snowballs pretty quick to do it right. I've been there several times.

He does have a good looking truck though, I'll give him that.

    A few things
Im right there with ya!! I think I'm going 1.75 and then it will force me to get an aal or 1"block for rear if its lower. BTW Right now I have a 2" difference from front to rear(rear-higher).

Great post OP! Im in almost the exact same boat as you are in. I've got a 2013 TRD Sport and Im about to purchase 265x70x17 Nitto Terrain Grapplers M/T. Speedo difference is minimal from what Ive read(2.2 mile difference at 65mph). They should fit fine on stock suspension but after reading on this site and finding out how easy it is to raise the front of the truck an inch or so (1.75) I'm like why not. Im going to leave the rear shocks stock for now but may get the regular 5100's for the rear in future. I may also get a 1" block for the back if it sags or lower then front. A couple things concern me though. As I'm researching the 5100's Im finding different models of the height adjusting shocks, theres BIL BE5-C477-T1 X2 which i was about to buy (for $170/pr)but then i see these on Amazon BIL 24-186711 which are a little more$$($200/pr). So whats the difference between the two? They both say they will fit my yr/model truck. Also Im curious, is something i'll be able to do in my garage? Im very mechanically inclined but will i need special tools (spring clamps, etc)? Thanks for all your help everyone!

What are your front and back measurements, center hub to fender? That will tell you exactly what you need to set them at. I agree with you that some are nose high...but do YOU have a 2 inch difference or 1 inch?
Do you plan on hauling a lot of heavy loads to wear out your rear springs, if so then go with .85 no matter what.

Also my Tacoma came with 17"..and I went down to 16" for 2 reasons. Call me old school, but 4X4s look better with more rubber than wheel. Secondly - 16" inch tires and wheels cost significantly less than their 17" counterparts.

Just get your 5100s from DownSouth or Toytec..they support this site and they have the best prices...they will make sure you get the right ones for your exact truck.
    http://downsouthmotorsports.com/i-1...le-shocks-05-2013-w-optional-rear-shocks.html

Get all 4 5100s and do it right. They are significantly thicker/better shocks and will greatly improve your ride. Your stock Bilsteins look like toys compared to 5100s.

There are videos on doing the front...it is straight forward if you have a floor jack. But you will need it aligned afterward. So I had my local shop do my fronts and align it and I did my rears(extremely simple).

Cool. They have a pretty good deal on a complete set and free shipping. What did you set your fronts at? And did you put a spacer or aal in rear or just the 5100's?

I bought mine from DSM, all 4 for around $300 shipped if I remember correctly. Best deal around, at least when I bought mine.

The 5100 setup is nice and moderate. Start there, it's simple and adjustable, affordable and just plain rides well. Everyone keeps saying bro lean to the point that its taboo to have it 1/2 inch higher up front. It's OK to do your own thing and feel better about your ride. If you want a "stinkbug", get a Nova.

I still need to measure it out, just got back from two weeks away from home. I will measure it out tomorrow and that way I'll better plan for the install and setting. Should have done that in the first place, bit its a considerable rake.

I haul on occasion, but not to an extreme level, as in not a lot of weight, and I haul a trailer maybe 4-5 times a year. I used to not like the 16" wheels but the more and more I am on this site I really like the idea for those exact reasons you stated.

I just ordered the 5100s for the front from DSM. I have a DCLB and am going to set it at 1.75 and then make the determination if I'm happy with the rear. I am hoping I will be and can call it a day, and then save for tires next. We shall see :D

Measure it out and you will know exactly what to do.
I think most of the Tacomas that are front high are the OR package with the 3 weak leafs in the rear. I think most Sport will have a 2" difference so your 1.75 will do just fine.
I have carried 500-1000lb loads in my bed 4-5 times a year and experienced no after sag...but if you are hauling that much on a weekly or daily basis...a Tacoma suspension is going to crap out on you.
