I have a supercharger on my truck so I've been doing some extensive research about the level 10 vs ipt valve body mods for our 2nd gen tacos and Ive read some conflicting stuff about level 10. I can't go with ipt because they don't do a core charge to return my old one and swap on on of theirs because I need to drive my truck. So since I'm spending like 600$ on this I figured I'd get some more opinions/ reviews first. Anyone had experience with level 10s valve body?

All I ever hear are good things about John at IPT

I'll be in the same boat soon.

Been thinking the same things myself. IPT sounds like the best choice to me after speaking to the guy there. Also I was told if I bring the truck to them, they would be able to fine tune the upgrade to be exactly what I need as opposed to buying an off the shelf mod...

I'm exactly in same situation so i've contacted Dave at Level 10 via e-mail just before Christmas Holidays and received an answer at beginning of january. I've written a second email to receive more detailed infos based on my need and budget and receive an answer the same day. All info were clear and complete and i would probably do the mod of body valve and maybe torque converter this summer. So nothing to say against level10 at this moment. I know IPT have a good reputation.

I would like to have more feedback too about level10. I know that Gadget already dine buisness with them in the past for his 4runner......

When I was exchanging emails with John at IPT he was great to deal with. I lucked out and picked up another members IPT VB, we did the swap in a few hours. I can tell you.. it is worth it! although I didnt have to have all the downtime that is required to ship to them, I would have still done it.. especially now that I know the outcome.

Yeah I talked to john and he said next day air it can be done in a week definitely. But still a week without my baby...my 4runner is so slow and it sucks on gas haha. And its weird I sent two emails to level 10 and they never got back to me. That's part of what inclined me to make this thread. Id really love to just do a core but I wanna ask them what kind of modified valve body back? Is it new? Off of a 50k truck? 100k? If I recall I don't think it says on level 10s site. But I like the idea of still having my valve body and ipt seems to have it down to a science but damn that down time! Haha.

How bout posting up some of the different specs these companies are providing you .
I beleive the valve bodies the guys are building for you are just accumulator modifications ( cushion )and possibly adjusting the pressure regulator to fool the transmission into thinking you have your foot deep into the pedal as well as boosting hydraulic pressure to reduce the possibility of slippage . Other than the torque converter , these modifications can be made to the valve body in your own truck in about 4 hours if you can follow basic instructions and hold some mechanical ability .
All the parts are available in my first and second post other than the torque converter .The kit is designed for longevity but there are additional modifications within the instructions for the supercharged applications .
With this said , you now have the opportunity to build up your own valve body if you wish plus the additonal protection from common wear items .
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/te...hift-kit-shift-recalibration-kit-2nd-gen.html

600 bucks is a little pricey for a valve body upgrade when the average kit goes for 80 bucks on ebay and a couple hours labour to pay a skilled technician to install it .
Is there a warantee with the valve body upgrade ?
What you are paying for is the testing they have done with the modifications they made to get the A750 to perform well with the supercharger .There isnt many parts to the upgrade .
I am not saying either company is bad , I applaud them both . These transmission shops spend a lot of time and money providing us with workable mods for our driving enjoyment and they know the trade inside out .The last valve body tester I owned was $65K and lasted 20 years .Took me a long time to pay that off .
I doubt either company uses the Sonnax protection within the kits they provide so here is a link that shows what to check for and whats available should your valve body have any additonal shift issues .I would even go as far as saying i would recommend installing some of these on higher mileage transmissions during a fluid service .
    https://s3.amazonaws.com/sonnax-dev/uploads/unit/valve_body_layout/249/VBL-Toyota-A750EF.pdf
If you enjoy tinkering , try installing your own kit now that they are available to us .
Just throwing this out there so you know whats available in the aftermarket .

Do valve body upgrades actually allow the transmission to handle more power? I know the benefits of shifting harder, but I'm unsure how it's helps handle additional power.
