The OME can't hold a candle to the Baja setup. I read up on the OME, and the show stopper was all the complaints about "it makes a clunking noise going over speed bumps". Really? Why spend money on a suspension system that doesn't have enough down travel to handle speed bumps . . . . .

Congrats. Happy New Year. You put some work into it, eh? It was easy for some of us, apparently not for you.

I had my local dealership check today, all the parts are available separately except the hardware and the bushings.

If anyone has availability on those items, all the parts could be sourced.

I will say that the price for all the parts purchased separately will be more than the kit...

    Thanks for that info.

Generally speaking, is there any speculation as to whether or not the whole kit will be re-available whenever they begin producing the '14 Baja's?

The manager I spoke with thinks that the issue has been production related. The other reason for blocking sales is quality related issues...

Speaking of quality issues, I noticed yesterday that there is already rust forming on the hoses for the rear remote reservoir shocks. The shocks and reservoir housings are aluminum, and the hoses are braided stainless. However, the part of the fittings that is crimped to the hoses are neither, and are starting to rust. Had it since June, and in the snow/salt for perhaps a month.

Did the dealer say what quality issues they are seeing?

I think she was speculating on what would drive Toyota to block orders on specific items, not specifically referring to any issues with this kit...

I wonder if they will cover it when the hoses let go and leak shock oil all over everything. I think I'll clean mine up and put some flat black paint on the affected area.

I'm not seeing any rust, doubt it will be an issue.

Further back in the thread you'll find some. The rear brake line extension was the only thing I had a problem with. The front springs/shocks were impossible to compress with my spring compressor, I had my neighbor put them together at his shop.

the brake line extension is 1 bolt that should take all of 2 minutes to swap in

i installed the front springs and shocks without using a compressor. it was pretty easy to do.

that sucks you had trouble with it

I have exchanged a couple of emails with Toytec dealing with rear droop and the possibility of getting a full 3" lift in front while retaining the BAJA suspension. They have a Baja-specific aluminum 1" coil spacer (spring seat replacement) available.

    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/1-Front-Lift-for-BAJA-TRD-Tacomas_p_1065.html

They then recommended their single AAL or their progressive 3-leaf AAL to get the back up another 1.5" and help with droop under load.

I've been sitting on this decision for a while now. I don't like how the back isn't raised, I like a bit of rake. I'd also like to increase the resistance to weight in the back.

I'll most likely be going with the progressive 3 leaf pack. What would you guys recommend doing:

Keep the overload or remove it?

From the website: Use with your stock overload for 2” of rear lift and extra rear weight. May be used without the factory overload for best ride quality and about 1.5” of rear lift.

Also had this foot note at the bottom, but I haven’t followed up to see if this would apply to Bajas: Mini-AALs require at least ¾” of thread showing on your current U-Bolts or new longer 7.5” U-Bolts are required.

Thanks, I read that too.... just wondering what other Baja owners would suggest?

Me too! I just sent an email to Toytec asking them is the shocks and brake line can take an extra 2" of rear lift, and if we would need new u-bolts. I'll post what I get back from them.
