I kept telling myself to do something other than a coin but I gave in after nothing I shot on the Christmas tree tickled me.

Sorry! Maybe there's a different take you can do with a coin...

Still trying to decide on the topic and tool.

Do I try to shoot something with the 55-200 on the Nikon, or do I get REALLY macro and shoot the edge of one of my straight razors with my USB microscope....

ill probably still post it, I used my 50mm 1.8 lens, and just flipped it to make it get the close distance I was looking for, I got ALOT of the canadian detail on the coin, but I havent looked at it yet either on the laptop, so that could change..... dummy me left my memory card at home, so the wife has to post all the files onto the net for me to access them lol

    Here's the actual entry......

    Wacker-2014-1.jpg

And so you know what you are looking at, this one is closer to 10x.
The blade width is 15/16" (can't get the full blade in the image). I put the penny underneath for a reference on the actual bevel width, which is the focal point above.

The blade probably has 50 or 60 shaves since the last time it was honed.

I drew more blood with a double-edge than I ever have with a straight.

Even on my headshaves. I normally just use a Fusion because the straight is too tricky around my ears, but if I've gone a couple of days without shaving (like right now, been off work since Tuesday and not going back until the 7th), I'll use the straight to mow down the bulk of the growth on my head, then go in with the Fusion to clean up around the ears.

    Have one.
    Hated it.
The Headslick was one of the best creams that I had used up to that point. Now I'm using traditional shaving soaps/creams applied with a badger or boar brush.

Meh... Took me about a year to get really proficient with it. Now, the only reason I would be faster with a cartridge is because I only run a single against-the-grain pass with a cart, where with the straight I go WTG first.
For the last year or so, I've been shaving in the shower with it. Much smoother and the lather stays hydrated even when the humidity is 5%.

Pictures of straights tend to do that.
