I just purchased my Tacoma at my local Toyota dealership and it came with this warranty. Is this a good deal or do all other dealerships offer this?

    Lifetime Warranty

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. WHICH VEHICLES COME WITH THE LIFETIME WARRANTY?
The warranty applies to all new Olathe Toyota vehicles. It also applies to select pre-owned vehicles from Toyota, Scion, Honda, Subaru, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Isuzu, Mazda, and Suzuki, that are 5 years or newer with less than 50,000 miles, and have passed our 160 point inspection.

    2. WHAT IS COVERED UNDER THE LIFETIME WARRANTY? (Non-Factory Limited Warranty) The components covered are exactly the same as the manufacturer's
powertrain warranty, but we extend the warranty for as long as you own the car.

    3. HOW LONG IS THE LIFETIME WARRANTY REALLY GOOD FOR?
The warranty is valid for as long as the original owner owns the vehicle - for unlimited time and unlimited miles.

    4. HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Zero. The Lifetime Warranty (Non-Factory Limited Warranty) comes standard with every vehicle meeting the above criteria. The warranty applies no matter how the vehicle is obtained whether it is bought with cash, financed, or leased.

    5. IS THERE ANY EXTRA MAINTENANCE REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN THE WARRANTY?
No extra maintenance is required. You must simply follow the scheduled
maintenance as recommended by the owner's manual.

    6. DO I HAVE TO HAVE ALL OF MY SERVICE COMPLETED AT OLATHE TOYOTA?
Our award winning service department will certainly exceed your expectations and maintain your records electronically. However you are not required to have your service done at our dealership. To maintain the warranty program though, you must provide copies of your service records if warranty service work is to be done elsewhere.

    7. WHERE AM I COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY?
The Lifetime Warranty (Non-Factory Limited Warranty) applies anywhere in the United States and Canada. Good at Participating Dealers.

    8. IS THE WARRANTY TRANSFERABLE IF I SELL THE VEHICLE?
No, the Warranty is good only as long as you own the vehicle.

    9. WHAT'S THE CATCH?
There are no catches, hidden fees, or gimmicks. Olathe Toyota provides this product as an added value to our customers for doing business with us.

The Sport I bought at Daytona Toyota has the same warranty and the FAQs even look the same. I guess we'll find out how good it is once the truck has couple hundred thousand miles on it...
The warranty is one of the reasons I bought at this dealership.

My thoughts also, just wasn't sure how widespread this warranty is in the Toyota system

i want to. but i also want to get a lil closer till i know my car is gone.

either way OP good looking truck. go do some mall crawling, haha

this is my issue with lifetime warranties. you cant do any of the work on your own. means taking it in for an oil change somewhere and keeping paperwork of everything. personally i do everything myself so this is an issue for me

I asked about this, supposedly you can do basic maintenance but you have to keep records and receipts...I'm sure that is one of the ways they would weasel out of coverage though!

You don't get anything for free. They have it figured out that you have or will be paying for it some how. But, It sounds really good.

Just like my truck came with all the glass has a number etched into it, so if someone steals it they can find it. You would never know it's there just by looking. I know I paid for it some how in the price. it's about making money, not losing it.

I'm sure the dealer is hedging their bet that it's a fact most American's only keep their cars on average of 4 years.

^^^BOOM^^^ This is how they are going to nullify your "lifetime" warranty. "Sorry Mr. Conehead, but you didn't get everything on the 30,000 mile service done by a reputable shop." Whatever that XXXXX mile service calls for, has to be completed, or it's certainly a no-go for whatever part fails you down the road. It'll cost you far more for the services than you'll ever use in the extended warranty.

I don't have a lifetime warranty on my Tacoma. But, my wife has one on here Honda minivan. Unlimited years and miles on the power train.

You can do your own maintenance if you keep receipts for everything. Same as a dealer warranty. The other thing stated in hers is that if the cost of the repair exceeds the value of the vehicle you will get compensated for the value of the vehicle.

The third thing is that the warranty is not through the dealer, it is provided free of charge from the dealer, but it is through an insurance company. The benefit of that is if the dealer goes under you don't lose the warranty and it is nationwide.

Don't know if the OP's is set up this way…

What i did when we bought the van was find the deal we wanted, which was from another dealer, and see if the dealer offering the lifetime warranty would match. And, of coarse they did.

Anyway, sweet rig. Good luck with it.
