I remember seeing them in the past. Any Idea why they were dropped? I know some local trucks that have the DeWalt rack system on them/.

I think DeWalt stopped making that type of rack system , not sure what system Leer is using on the 100RCC and 180RCC commercial models now

Does anyone know where to find instructions on making the 3rd brake light work for the LEER campers? I just got a 100r off Craigslist and I'm not sure how to get it to work with my brake lights.

Just looked on the site. Appears they are a strictly 'THULE' reseller now. Using the TRACKER II system on the 100RCC

Yes. Have to tap into the break light on the drivers side. You need a run for the Power to operate the dome light. I can go remove the tail light and snap a photo for you.

Originally they tapped into the actual break light on the back of the tail light housing. any time you take the tail light out or replace a bulb, it was in the way. I spliced into it AFTER the wiring harness.

A picture would be very helpful! I don't mind running the dome off a battery. I just want my 3rd brake light to work. Is a ground necessary?

The 'ground' is in the harness. Give me 5 min to remove the tail light and upload.

When I bought my shell Leer didn't offer vented windoors on a short bed.

How long ago was that? That was also my understanding 2 years ago also. Aslo the reason why I am calling them directly. I think the guy taking my quote didn't understand what vehicle I have and the current offerings of LEER>

That's why I mentioned the incorrect bed length on the quote

The original harness had 4 wires in it.

    2 negative
1 Constant power fused from the battery for the dome light
1 power from the break light

In reality, the harness should only be 3 wires

1 negative (having break light spliced into the dome light)
1 constant power to the dome light
1 power to the break light

In my pic of my makeshift harness, a buddy was there to 'help' me with the installation. He decided they should be all separate, and just 'jumped' the negative. I left it alone, and patted him on the back for being the wise man he is. I have been waiting for him to 'forget' about the work he did, so I can correct it in a manner that I am happy with. Will be ordering one of the waterproof 3 prong harnesses for it when I order the new shell.

Didn't hit refresh and see that you had already done it. Wow. Thanks.

Thanks... maybe I'll get a 3 prong harness... would it be at an auto part store or radio shack? I went to radio shack today for an "Add a circuit" but they didn't have em?! So I went to O'Reilly's and they had em. This is for the foglight on when you want mod.

    Thanks again for your help.

I understand. Either way, If I can not get the vented Windoors, I will still be getting WINDOORS - That was my first and only requirement. When I asked and he said I could get them, I was very happy, excited even. Would be nice if he is/ was correct. I feel he mis informed me unknowingly.

On the other hand. I need to keep positive, and hope for the best. Interesting how I run into al sorts of inconvenient limitations on our platform.

No stress. Cant you tell? I'm a 'NOW' kind of person. ;)

These are what I will be getting

    http://www.whiteproducts.com/connectors.shtml

Debating on the 3 straight connector. Will be harder, since it is wider, to pull through a hole if I need to do anything. VS a 2 over 2. I would still only use 3 in the connector with the forth unused. Having the more compact form factor with the 2 over 2 might make more sense for my application.

Also, I drilled that hole in the bulkhead for all my wires. Normally they pop the plastic on the bed rail and have the wires hanging from under it.

    @ Skygear

Are you using a quick disconnect on your cap light set up ?

    Short answer YES.

Initially, no, I hard wired it to see if there was going to be an Interference issue. When I realized there WAS, I promptly ordered a few of the above mentioned connections in the 2 over 2 variety. That way i could stick 20"s and 6"s on their own respective harness. I have a couple of the 2 connectors coming also. Debating to wire the 6"s together before the connection, or after it.

Also ordered some of the ferro shielding to attempt to correct the EMI I am getting.

I do remove the cap for various things throughout the year. Trying to be intuitive about the whole process.
