    :woot: Last day! Congratulations. :)

Morning Charlie. Cold day for ya'll there; -11F estimate chill temp feels worse than an actual -11F with no wind. Be careful digging out.

I've heard that about too much grain ... guess their quality control isn't too strict? :notsure: :(

    Morning all:
    Good looking dog Mark.
Just checked; 6 1/2" of the white stuff.

As for the Pa. gas tax: 9c this yr., + 9.5c next yr., than 1 yr. of no increase, and then the next yr. + 9.5c, for a total of 28c.
Don't know how they got the .5c in there; maby we will see gas at $3.85.4.
That came from a local paper, but 10c, 9c, & 9c would seem more right. :notsure:
    Either way, IT'S 28c A GAL.! :(

Good morning everyone. Well, our youngest daughter (and her black Lab) moved out and into her own apartment yesterday. Juliane is finishing her honours degree in Neuroscience here at the university at which I teach and will be going on for a Masters and Ph.D., probably in Australia at the University of Melbourne. They have an excellent Neuroscience program there and she wants a warmer, year-round climate.:D Anyway, as much as I love her black Lab, I must say it is nice not to have an animal the size of a small pony running around the house. :) Although we have had various dogs since our kids were small, neither my wife nor I are really dog lovers in the way that some pet owners are. I didn't grow up with pet dogs, so I never developed the "man's best friend" syndrome. Okay, okay.....flame me all you want. But, please note, I did have a pet amoeba once which I loved and cherished. Taking it for a walk was a real challenge though. :p

On the downside of our daughter moving out, Juliane is an excellent "gourmet" chef so we will miss some of her delicious concoctions. :(

Oh yeah....almost forgot. We are now in our fourth day of a deep freeze (-20C) which will not let up for another few days. It's brutal. I may join my daughter and go for another Ph.D. at Melbourne myself. :D I hope they take old guys!

:jellydance: You have an excuse to visit Australia...on my bucket list of places I want to visit one of these years. I'll split the difference on the temps with you...we're in a warming trend, -2C feels like -4C, too warm as things are getting sloppy and dirty. Wish the warm temps would hold off for true break up ... I don't care for the roller coaster cold, warm, cold, warm etc.

Hey Doc .... your daughter will love Australia. I lived/worked in the Australian Outback for 5 years (1993-1998). Loved the place and am still in touch with a couple of Aussie friends. Two things for her to know:

    1) Made a few trips to Melbourne ... seems like it rained EVERY day!

    2) Kangaroo meat is VERY lean, VERY tender, and roughly half the price of beef (at least in Alice Springs).

I really should have retired there.

I also know a guy that spent some time in Australia. He loved it there!

Just saw something on "The Peoples Court"!
The Judge made a comment about when she had her last child, a third girl, and that her husband was happy about it.
She said she told her husband to do the math! 15 yrs. down the road with 3 teenage girls and a woman going through menopause in the house, he won't be as happy as he is now!
    That's just scary!

Doc, you need to make that trip to Australia!! And, you better start working on getting a dog, too. [IMG]

Snow wasn't too bad here - until my winch crapped out after 3 passes. I spent 2 hours taking the front off the ATV and taking out the winch and the contactor switch. After paying someone to plow us out, I headed to the ATV shop - an hour away - where they confirmed the contactor was bad. I spent $104 on that and then did some shopping that we needed to do. Tomorrow, I'll put the ATV back together.

Temperature is on the way down below zero - 3F right now.

    Have a great evening everyone!!

    Wow.
    4am start.
    Like -30 wind chill.
    9 inches in blizzard conditions.
    Got enough done before work.
Wasted day. One idiot had their car towed to our shop because the car cover froze on.
Thought we were going to fix it for free because its new under warrantee.
Woman needed a battery and declined it.
Had to jump the car inside and put it out
Cust goes out and of course it won't start.

Cust tried to say I ruined her batt on purpose.
    Just another day....

Just Finished the clean up and opened the oil barrel path.
Vehicles all cleaned, parked, and put to bed. Colder tonight than last night.
    More coming Monday.
If it keeps up I won't be able to get to my boat till July .....

    I'm tired.........
Time for a cup of coffee....

Morning Mike, the women with the battery issue reminds me of an incident about 30 years ago ([IMG]) when I was on call driving a tow truck. We were running AAA calls and it was bitter cold. A women had called that her car wouldn't start. Got to her house and when I checked the battery the electrolyte(???) which was water) was frozen solid. I told her that I could get her started but that she needed a battery. She said she would take it in in the morning and she thought that if I got her car started that night it would start for her in the morning:facepalm:. Then
I had to explain to her why it wouldn't. She called AAA and said I didn't help her[IMG].

Glad you got the help from the Forum Jim, Lot of knowledge here(thanks for Mike's help).

First Day as a retiree and woke up at 5:30[IMG].
