Ultra Gauge

I was wanting to know if anyone had an ultra Gauge and if so do they like it or not and why? Was thinking of getting one but wanted to ask around first.

 

I just got mine and so far I like it. I have it set for MPG as well as intake temp and eng temp

 

Lots of people do. I hate driving a vehicle without it after having it for 3+ years. Vague needles gauges for things like fuel and temperature, and speedometer needles that don't point at the correct speed, feel much too dumbed down anymore.

 

I love it. I've had it since early october and have loved it ever since i installed it. The only thing i wish it did was transmission temp. But it does so many other things that i only have about three pages set....the rest is what came on it and blank pages because half the things i don't really know what are. I would buy them again for future vehicles.



That was right after i installed it...it takes a good bit of time for the MPGs to calibrate.

 

they are pretty sweet, I have a first gen and the temp gage is only too hot or too cool, but with the ultragauge i can see degrees

 

I have mine in the same location.

Print out the manual, I did. I needed to know what the hell some of those abbreviations were. It's a pretty cool device, I like checking the systems.

 

I have the pdf on my phone if i need it so i don't have to stuff all the paper in the glove box

 

Smart thinkin', I should've done the same.

I bought my Ultragauge during the group buy here on TW. I enjoy seeing the various gauges and MPG as I drive. It has made me more aware of what is happening to my vehicle as I commute between Vegas and Phoenix.

I don't know about the other products like this, but I am sold on the Ultra Gauge and once programmed and in use, I would miss not having it in my Tacoma.

I love my UG. I have 33" on my Yoda and my mileage is off by 6 miles . So when I checked my mpg it was inaccurate . I got my UG and Calibrated it. Its on now and I can check the MPG and all the other Gauges that I aint got a clue is

 

I prefer it up where it's not as visible outside the truck. Never know when some goofball will mistake it for a GPS and do a smash'n'grab. Then again, I have that annoying holder for droid dailyroads they can see anyways...

 

Where mine is, people don't see it unless they are looking for it....but i would've put it where yours is if i didn't have my remote start reciever in the way.

 

Is anyone's else's mpg off by like 1-3 mpg? I resent it every time and my average mpg is always higher than it really is. Ideas to why this happens

 

Might not be totally calibrated/broken in yet..how long have you had it?

 

I have had it for like 3 months now.

 

Hmmp....i know mine has been registering no higher than 15.8 but i drive like an asshole and need to change my diffs, t-case, and tranny fluids. I'm not sure what to tell you man.

 

Mine is usually close. Winter gas calibration for me tends to be around 1.12, summer gas somewhere down around 1.10, iirc.

Since I never reset the unit to calibrate:
-at first calibrating tank fill, write down gallons displayed on the calibration screen. Fill tank and disregard numbers.
-For next three to five tanks, write down gallons used each time.
-When you decide it's time to calibrate, immediately after your last fill, add up total gallons used. Save number for later.
-Go into calibration screen. The gallons displayed will now be more. Write that down.
-Subtract the new displayed number from the old displayed number. This is your "estimated" usage.
-Compute your calibration ratio: actual gallons divided by estimated gallons. This will give a number close to 1. Save it.
-Go back to calibration screen. It shows the existing ratio. Default is 1.000. Manually increase or decrease the displayed gallon amount until you get to the ratio you calculated earlier. If you reset the unit's avg mpg before the first tank, the displayed gallon amount should match your actual usage.

Done.

Keep your ratio written down somewhere. Ever accidentally reset avg mpg when resetting the trip? It sucks! That option is literally right above the trip reset on my v.1.0.

 

Mine is awesome, I love it, gives me all of the features of my dads new trucks for $50 the first month I had mine I never got to use it because all of my friends would borrow it to read their trucks and figure out mpgs, just permanently moved it yesterday
