Truck leaning to one side

Hi there. My truck seems to be leaning toward the driver side, it has been like this for months and it is quite irritating. What could be causing this? I am still under my warranty so it would be nice to have a diagnosis before it runs out. I just read pages about undertightened U-bolts on leaf springs, would that make a difference in the way the vehicle sits if one side is torqued higher than the other? I am going to borrow a torque wrench and tighten them up either way. Maybe one of the leaf springs is faulty? Plz help.

 

unfortunately its normal. its the notorious taco lean. ... its due to the extra weight from the gas tank and driver being on that side. its strains the leaf springs faster.

 

Otherwise known as the taco lean. Mine does it too especially with a full tank of gas. Normal. The battery and gas tank are both on the drivers side

 

Thanks for putting my mind at ease. It sucks, but at least it's not a problem. Maybe I will change it to a right hand drive setup to offset the wear and weight.

I also have the same problem with my 2016 Tacoma, 1" higher on the passenger rear spring. Although my dealership is working with me and replaced the driver's side rear spring, but it did not solve the problem. I now have a appointment with them next week and they want to get the frame checked for proper alignment.
I agree with you that is does look horrible and I think that in the long run it could do some unnecessary wear and tear on the drive train.

This causes no suspension problems in the long run but to ease your mind(and eyes) companies make a 1/2" block to help. I made my own out of a spare overload.

 

As has already been mentioned, it's normal (at least on the 2nd gens). If it bothers you, you can get one of these installed:

So if you don't do a lot of driving, is it best to avoid keeping a full tank of gas? Just bought my truck, but it's perfectly level. I'm not a heavy dude either.

 

If it visually bothers you that much, I guess. I have a 1/4" spacer that I need to put in but I don't want to deal with paying for another $100 alignment. Probably will wait a year until I need new tires.

 

I bet if you measure from center of hub to bottom of fender, you'll find you do have 1/2" to 3/4" delta from passenger side. No real reason to do anything about it, as it's normal. As has been mentioned, if you have any level of OCD (as many of us do) you can correct it with a spacer.

 

Mine does it too; I heard levelling kits come with additional washers/spacers for the driver side to compensate when you have a full tank

 

If more people complained about it to Toyota and stopped accepting it as normal, Toyota might make come up with a solution. Any new truck should never have this problem.
