$20/month here for unlimited exterior washes at local car wash. They also wipe down the entire truck by hand, clean rims and tires by hand and tire shine. Tip the guys $2 every time (most do not) and they do the interior also.

When I'm feeling lazy, $10 will also get you a full mud removal from the undercarriage. Those guys will literally lay under the truck with a hose and rag wiping the whole thing off.

Ends up looking brand new when they're done.

I like cleaning my truck. I've had it for about 6 weeks and I've done it about 4 times already.

Thanks, Fletch. I thought I must be the only one. I worked at a Service station in high school and a VW dealership when I first started college and got more than my share of car washing and detailing. Used to not be so bad, but as I've gotten older its become more like work. I'm glad to pay someone else to do it and by the way, I tip $5. Is that enough?

Now I wonder if there's a correlation between liking or not liking to wash our trucks and our age.

5$ is good. we have a guy that comes to the house, he's got it all. basic wash is 20$. every couple weeks or so it's worth it. he's the same price as the reg car washes around here and i don't have to leave my house. he's gooooood too!

I love washing my truck I'll spend 10 hrs on a full detail! It does last a lot longer here in SoCal. I used to have a black first gen. The ticket there is using a clay bar( make sure you keep it wet!! And kneed it often to get fresh clay to the surface or you can do more damage than good!) And use Turtle Wax's "Black Box" detailing kit. It'll set you back 30 or so bucks, but you'll get 6 or 8 full waxes out of the kit. It takes time and you have to wear gloves or you'll end up as black as the truck, but the results are amazing. Keep it looking glassy with a application of maguiers quick exterior detail spray and a micro fibre rub down. My 2nd gen has MGM paint which is more forgiving than black but still dark enough to show everything. If a bucket hand wash is your method of choice, get your self a grit guard. It's a plastic perforated disk that sits 2 or so inches above the wash buckets bottom. While washing your sponge can't dip all the way to the bottom where all the sand and grime settles as you wash. Each time you dip the sponge and wring it out the junk gets trapped in the bottom. Extra insurance against scratches.
Sorry OP looks like most people don't mind washing their trucks !!

I like mine to be spotless when I am doing something where people I know will see it.

I bought mine in september, it started getting too cold to wash around November. In the month and a half gap there I probably hand washed it 20 times, pressure washed it at the car wash 10 times and waxed it 3 times. Honestly come to think of it I probably hand washed it every single day lol

Some people don't even wax their car once a year, Mine was done 3 times in 2 months :D:D

Flipping through my pictures the ground is wet in every single one

Hey, I'm not offended. I really was just curious about how people felt about the task. My profession requires a lot of hours each week and when I have some time off I'd rather spend it with my wife. I'm also over 60 and the climbing and squatting required seems to be a lot harder than it used to be. I tell you, getting old is not for sissies.:)

I wash 3-4 times a week. 1st Black truck that I owned, always had White trucks in the past. Dirty is dirty, white or black.
I use a Boars Hair brush with a wooden handle. They cost about $100 but are easy on the finish, and don't hold dirt. Use 2 buckets and rinse brush before you dip it back into the soapy bucket. Wash in straight lines, DON'T use a circular motion. Micro fiber towels to dry. Piece of cake!

Truck is 3 years old, been washed twice. Next washing due within a few months I'm guessing, or rain, whichever happens first.

I have enjoyed washing my Cars/Trucks since i was 16. Now i'm 58 and my cars are always cleaned and detailed. I have spent around $800 in detailing supplys in the last year but only buy professional supplys. Same Shit in Colorado cold, snow and slush all winter but have to deal with it. I had a hot/cold valve installed in my garage in my new house and it makes it much better to clean cars in the winter. Three cars and still manage to keep them clean most of the time.

I hate washing/cleaning anything. Not that i don't like things lookin good, but most the time i hit the auto carwash and dry it myself, thats about it.

I feel the same way about taking my truck to an automated car wash as I do about taking my kid to eat at Mcdonalds...
