I don't. A few guys at work do. One has 2 sump pits with a backup on each. Before the backups, his basement was flooded because the contractor didn't hook up the wires to the plug. It even passed inspection like that.

 

I think most inspectors must be blind or bribed. My son had to take his stall shower out today... the drain in the shower didn't match up with the drain in the ground, so all the water wasn't going down the drain.

That's dumb. As much as I blame hack and slash carpenters, inspectors should be held accountable too. You as a homeowner have to pay for permits and have inspections done, they should be more qualified to spot shit like that. Even with my inspections I point shit out to the inspectors that they don't check. I'm not a dick about it but I do try to bring it up in a way that it's something they should have noticed and at least asked questions about. The last final inspection I had the inspector was all concerned with the window wells and if I had put gravel in and if I put vertical weepers in. When I mentioned it was done that way and connected to the sump pit he said ok and signed off on the inspection. Didn't bother to check anything else out. I ended up finding out that the sump pit wasn't even installed correctly. I missed the back check valve not being installed by our plumber. Thankfully he came back and did it that day and told me he had forgot the part the last time he was there
