Looking at a used 2012 and 2013 TRD Sport and entering the VIN the body style result is an SR5. Is this the generic trim for all models (Sport, OR, Base) that the truck is manufactured from? In other words, the VIN # report will not show the actual truck as a Sport or OR and will only show SR5 for all trims. Also, I thought the Sport had 17" wheels when the details for these used trucks I am looking at say 16" wheels.

    Thanks

The sport does come with 17's. Maybe they swapped them out? I'm not sure if the VIN will say what edition it is though sorry.

    Bone stock for now....
The VIN decoding stops at SR5, it won't tell you Sport or Off Road, both of which are also SR5's.

Is it a Double cab long bed? If yes - its NOT a TRD OR. If no - it could be any config

Does it have factory locker? if yes - trd off road - if no - it could be any config

Does it have the 110v ac socket in the back of the truck? - if yes, its a sport or OR

Is it a regular cab? - if yes - its not a OR or Sport

Double cab 4x4 not long-bed, no locker mentioned, TRD Sport graphics with signals in the door mirrors...

These are on AutoTrader and I know there is a lot of cut and pasting happening there per the specs by dealers and privates. Best thing for me is to call and ask them to measure the wheels...aye...

How much harsher or louder does the OR ride versus the Sport by the way? I'd do more street driving and some highway and off road only during dove and duck season but nothing crazy. Just thinking out loud.

    Thanks

They don't even have to measure the wheels. The rubber should say R17, and the 17's have nice milling on them. I don't have a TRD so I couldn't tell you the comparison, but I am happy with my ride.

No difference in ride quality on or off road.. My brother has an off road, I've got the sport, same ride quality.... Usually the easiest way to tell a sport from any other model is the scoop, only sports have them.

EDIT: also, the sports have the 17" 5 spoke alloy wheels, the OR has the 16" 5 spoke alloys but each spoke has a "Y"type shape to it... Google each truck and the wheel difference I'm talkin about will be obvious

sport typically has a slightly stiffer leaf spring (1 extra leaf) and slightly stiffer sway bar (larger diameter)... it will act slightly better on road, but over all they all ride nearly identical.

FYI.... many people do scoop hood swaps and wheel swaps so the above is not always the case.

Ya I know they do, but your average driver (outside us awesome people here on TW) won't typically change m ajar things about their vehicle or even know that they can be done... So if the vehicle is coming off a lot or is listed with only the stock gear and no extras, the wheels and hood are probably stock too.. Beats me why people are so ignorant about something they rely upon so heavily but it's typically true

Sport has color-matched bumpers and grille surround with a hood scoop.

Rims aren't original, but everything else looks right for a sport.

Are we lookin at the same truck... Cuz those are the same wheels (or the updated 2013 version) of my sport wheels... Look stock to me?

Also, great lookin truck, not really much to say about it, it's almost brand new. This dealer should have all the service record it looks like as they did the maintenance according to the carfax... Have you sent he inside of the truck, that's the only thing they don't show pics of for whatever reason..?
