Taking my girlfriend to the airport and we stop along the way. I walk out to this lovely situation.

I don't know how he managed to hit me. I was the only car in the lot with spaces on each side of me lol. Guess that's my luck.

Here are some pics of the damage. Any idea what it is gonna end up costing? I'm hoping he has good insurance.

Looking at it the headlight is scuffed, the front fender has some damage, obviously the bumper and fender flare need to be replaced.

He must have mental issues. Was there room on the passenger's side of his truck? If there are other stalls why the hell would he want to get close up to you? Hopefully under 2k damage. Sorry to hear :( You got his info?

Edit: Judging by his wheel orientation, it looks like he backed in and was a lot closer than he thought he was to your truck. That or he pulled in straight and turned left to purposely ram into your truck. Would he even be able to get out of his door the way he parked?

Ouch bud. Looks like a U-haul truck. I imagine that their insurance would cover it or am I mistaken.

He was going forward around my truck and his rear wheel well caught my bumper. I'm waiting on the accident report for his complete info. He was confused on whether his uhaul or personal insurance would cover it. The officer said he would let me know when that got sorted out.

I would have stayed and got to the bottom of it, but the airplane wasn't going to wait on me. Just barely made the flight.

I should know by the end of next week. Ugh

I'm guessing it would be his insurance. If he rented the U-Haul I can almost guarantee it.

Thats the problem with places like Uhaul and Penske, they let anyone rent those trucks. I used to work at a Penske shop, you'd be amazed at the type of people who want to "move themselves" but have never even driven a pickup let alone a 16 foot box truck. Sorry for you bad luck though. At least insurance should pay for this.

    Some stuff...
Sorry, Bro - that sucks. I know the feeling!

My '13 is in the shop now for a very similar incident (hit by a "Wal-Martian" hauling azz recklessly and illegally across the parking lot on Thanksgiving day :frusty:). Anyway, the damage was very similar to yours and the total cost for damage is $2,800. Of course my insurance is paying for it less my deductible and going after their insurance since they determined them to be at fault. Hopefully they get their insurance to do the right thing and refund my deductible, but I have luck like you. :(

    Good luck though.

Call your insurance, that's what you pay them for. Let them pay to fix your truck, then they will go after the responsible party's insurance, likely U-haul, who will in turn, stick it to the renter (as they should).

Whenever you rent a uhaul, they offer you to get their insurance for additional $20 or so.

if the renter declines the uhaul insurance, the renter is responsible for any damages to the truck and to whoever they hit. if they have good insurance, their car insurance should cover it. if they have a cheap insurance more than likely they will not cover any damages and the renter is responsible out of his own pocket.

worst case scenario OP, hopefully you have uninsured motorist for idiots like this uhaul guy

best case scenario, hes got good insurance and you are now an owner of a new off road front bumper:D

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
    $1000.00

Should be able to get it fixed for that.

I'm looking at a new bumper cover right now myself and they are surprisingly affordable. OEM is around $180, off-brand is as low as $50. That is unpainted though, so there is some more cost included there. Sorry that happened to you, hopefully it gets resolved!

If you just wanna go back to stock then ignore this... But... If you've ever considered upgrading do it now! Once you price put the cost of the bumper and then include painting it it's usually the same if not more than many of the plate or tube bumpers... Just my 2¢

I'm really more of a stock bumper guy, I think. No lift, no intentions of off-roading just for the sake of off-roading, etc. I do really like the look of a few of them, but for me it's just not practical. Great advice for OP though.

I am worried about painting it though, i'll probably have a shop do it. I replaced the rear bumper cover on my fiance's Jeep Liberty and we ordered "OEM" paint and it really doesn't match all that well. My truck is Black Sand Pearl and that might be difficult to match exactly.
