Yesterday a minivan hit the front of my girl's wrecker from the side. F-450. Actually pushed the front axle over a few inches. She's ok though.

Holly shit, they moved a axle of a 450. Those always have solid axles. Even the 2wd uses a solid beam axle. That must have been a pretty hard hit to do that. Glad she's OK. Keep an eye on her the next few days.

    Got the new one in!

Thankfully the UCA bolt wasn't frozen, so it slid out really easily!

Made sure to put lots of extra grease inside before putting the boot on. Don't want this to happen again
    e7e2a5un_f1079213d88c31e63894afd4cb928d5619e8d5dd.jpg

Took it for a test drive and my God does it feel like a new truck! It doesn't wander anymore, no more rattles over bumps, and no more squealing when going over bumps or turning. I'm happy it went well!

Oh, and the culprit was a torn boot in like 3 places.

Yeah no kidding! I need an undercarriage wash like a whore on payday, but it just gets dirty in minutes! I'm going to be sanding my frame to bare steel, priming it and coating it with Bondo rubberized undercoating. That stuff is tough! I did both wheel wells on the passenger side and they have shown no issue with the salt and water. Might be able to save my frame lol.

Yes I started pressing it out after this photo was taken. I took off the snap ring first before putting the press on it.

I have a little 10 gallon CH compressor. It was maxed out at like 110psi. Fucking weakkkk!!!!

You should try doing it with a big ass wrench. Stupid broke-ass college me didn't want to pay the $35 labor for the local garage to replace a bad ball joint on my Nissan. 4 hours later, lots of hammering, PB Blaster, a 6-foot length of pipe, and a LOT of swearing and bloody knuckles later I got the old ball joint out and the new one in. Stupid. Would have taken me 20 minutes with the airgun I didn't own at that point.

On a side note, shoveled the roof off today. Took about 2-2.5 hours to do it on my own. WHY would anybody ever want a shingled roof over a steel one?! Blows my mind. If we're in this house long enough to need a re-roof it's going to be steel, and when I build a place it's going to be steel. 26 and sunny out today, and I was sweating like crazy with just a T-shirt and jeans. I could've been doing something productive like ice fishing; instead I was up on the roof shoveling.

Standing seem roofs are my favorite. I dunno how they compare to asphalt price wise but i would guess shingles are considerably cheaper. Plus steel is loud when it rains.
