What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Not today but got it washed yesterday.

Today we started our move from Mountain View CA to Little Rock AR. So far 432 miles out of 2400 down.

 

And it's only when you are on the throttle right ?
If I let go of the pedal or take it out of gear it stops but once I put it back into gear it makes the squeeling/ rattling metal noise

 

Mine used to only do it when I was off the throttle at around 30mph but now it happens constantly between 25-50mph.

 

A bad carrier bearing squeals and changes with speed. My new one is squealing now but I need to put some more grease in it

 

How do you regrease a carrier bearing?

 

Take it off and it has a groove on either side that you pack grease into by hand.

 

Cool... Might Have to try that. I already greased most of the u-joints, but I need to do it again since the last time I did was in the middle of a Walmart parking lot in 30 degree weather... Haha

 

Yeah it's not too bad to take off. Just make sure you mark your flanges and mark the bracket that the carrier bearing hangs from so you can get the alignment right when it goes back on. Driveshaft bolts are 14mm and 17mm and the staked nut on the driveshaft is 24mm. And yeah I can't wait to have a garage so I can work indoors lol.

Fixed my 4x4 issue. Took out the actuator and properly installed it... some idiot (me) somehow didn't get the shift fork lined up with the collar on initial install.

Annnd tore my intake plenum off again to re-torque my valve cover bolts as they had worked themselves out in the time since i replaced the gaskets. Then hosed the heads/covers down with some CRC degreaser that just melted the old leaking gunk/oil off. Nice and clean so far.

Then went and drove it around the local frozen river... 4lo with the rear locked is so much fun.

 

You got that problem also.... it's never done... crawl box finally coming next week.

Order the parts to do my take on the blinker relocation mod. Hopefully this'll turn out pretty sweet.

Also, ordered the backup light switch on the MT so I can get my nice 'n bright LEDs working again.

 

If you're way works that will be awesome. Don't see why it shouldn't though.

 

I'm just hoping there is enough room where the current light sits to mount the new one otherwise, will resort to how you mounted it.

 

Yeah, I need to take my passenger side lens out and add some more sealant to it I guess. Every time I wash my truck the bottom of the lens has about 1/2" of water in it... Haha

 

I was going to order extra corner lenses so I could just swap them in but my wallet started complaining. Crossing my fingers I don't start hacking away and mess something up.

 

If I did it(twice), I'm sure you can haha
