Call oreiley's, and check on the parts.. They should still carry them. When I did mine, they had them in stock, so I just picked them up, and went straight to the engine shop.. 30 minutes later, the new bearings were pressed onto the hub flanges, and I just had to bolt them back on the truck.. So check on parts availability and price.. Then we can take it from there.. Pretty easy to get you safely back on the road.

 

What is the name of the shop?

 

Scottsdale Automotive Specialists I believe.. Small shop, but they build a lot of race engines, and have a pretty well equipped machine shop.. More importantly, they had a big enough press, and the right tools for the wheel bearings..

 

So all I need is the wheel bearing changed? Nothing with the hubs?

 

The hub flange has to be pressed into the new wheel bearings.. But, it first has to be pressed out of the old wheel bearings.. So, we would remove your wheel bearing assembly, pick up new bearings at O'Reiley's, then go across the street, get the new bearings pressed together, then put the truck back together.. Back on the road in no time

 

Well shit, since I have my old hub out I can swap it to my passenger then fix that one next weekend and swap that to my driver side. They would remove the old bearing correct?

 

Or you could just get the new bearing pressed in for that one as the replacement you got has no play in it. And only have to tear down half the truck......

Yes, they pull the hub and bearing, and press the new one in. How many different ways does jerry need to explain this to you. Do you need visual verification?

Indeed he does, however it is not hard to understand this concept of pulling bearings and pressing on new ones. What I dont understand is how Nick is not grasping this? He had this all apart for fucks sake, he knows what it looks like on top of having google at his fingertips......

 

And the guy who spent an hour of his time with a wire brush meticulously cleaning all the rust off that part gets no mention....

 

What he will never know is that they make this

Nick, try not to over think it dude... It is really quite easy, and can all be done pretty quickly.. Line up the parts ahead of time, and if you want help, I am happy to help. I've got all the tools needed, and have done this more than once...

 

Thanks man! I just called the shop the guy said it should be $20 I called network alignment and they wanted $95 lol. Once the new one goes in it is no problem for me to install it.

 

Cool.. That guy is super nice, and his prices are very reasonable.. $20 bucks sounds about right, pretty sure that's what he charged me as well..
