Getting the 15k done on my 13 that came with the 2 year maintenance package. I asked if they'd be changing out the front and rear diff oil like it says in special operating conditions. I tow a boat or have the quad in the bed regularly. He said the maintenance doesn't cover special op conditions and that it would be $200 if I wanted to change them and the transfer case out. Just wanted to see if that was really the case or he's BSing. Ill change them myself if so

I changed all 3 of mine in less than an hour and for less than $70. Used Mobil1 synthetic gear lube too.

I think normal change interval is 30K though so they are probably being truthful. That maintenance package is really just free oil changes and tire rotations.

He was speaking the truth. The 2 years maintenance only covers the standard maintenance and no special conditions...

    ^ Thanks

Got my truck back and popped the hood(ive read to stories). The same mark I put on the oil filter was still there. I went back in and let them know my thoughts. Sat there and watched the tech put a new one on. Im looking forward to doing the maintenance myself

I just said "ef it" and skipped the "free" work. I wanted to use synthetic oil anyway so I would've had to bring my own oil or pay a bunch extra. Ordered a 10-pack of the Toyota filters and plug gaskets for $47 and I'm good for a while.

    Really?! I'd be bullshit too.

When I went in for my 'free' services, I did make small identifying marks on the filters.... they did change them each time.

I was more concerned of them leaving behind the drip cup under the filter drain spout.

Me too! Just changed my own oil at 5K. Dealer did it at 1800. Try the Fumoto valve too. It will make changing the oil even easier.

    Bone stock for now....
Did the same thing after 2 free dealer services. I'd rather do it myself at my convenience than dink around with a trip to the dealer anyway.
