i might be blind but like going through some of the long build threads its tough and annoying hahahaha

what solenoid did you end up going with for your dual battery system?? im just in designing stages of my dual battery system for the Lexus atm, just playing with some ideas, my current layout requires 6 relays!!!! soooo im going to change things up a bit hahahaha

i got a 500amp continuous relay 700 amp peak from The Install Bay. Its huge but seeing as how winches can pull upwards of 400-500amps..better safe then sorry.

no idea wth your doing that needs 6 relays to islolate batteires...if your doing muliple batteries just isolate from the starter battery to you aux bank. run the aux batteries in parallel.

    In other news..

Passenger side 35 is done on the rear. Did lots of different pics so ill do a mini write up when i get back from the gym and dinner. then ill start the front as i bought metal for it today.

Does the blue sea fuse block eliminate the need for multiple relays? The more I ad, the more cluttered it gets. I picked up some 2x2 pods for my a pillars

Haha that panel has 5 relays and 5 fused circuits without relays. So the fuses that are 20a are for the relays and the 5 2a fuses can be used for stuff like cb radios that don't need relays.

You can order the parts and piece it together yourself like Monte did. But this takes all of the work out haha

Oh gotcha. So far I've got rock lights, hids, an amp, and just picked up some dually style pods for my a pillars. What would be a good route for me? I plan on adding a reverse light and a 30" led bar up front too. Wiring is not my strong suit...

Honestly it doesn't make a difference how you do it as long as you have relays and fuses. Fuse blocks like the BlueSea and the one I posted just clean up the wiring and make things easier to troubleshoot.

right i understand that part. what i dont understand is relays. Ive never had to use them before except on the piaa lights i just got and it came with a wiring harness. i couldnt begin to tell you how to hook up a relay, and after reading his description about the panel i still have no clue

Here is your most basic explanation on how to wire a relay.

On the relay box he makes everything is already wired. You just have to run the main power wire for it to the battery. Then there are only two color coded wires for each relay--a skinny wire and a fat wire. The fat wire is the wire you connect to your device. The skinny wire is the control wire that you connect to your switch.

    single pole, single throw
In the valet switch. lol I'm learning about electrical systems on a 1C-130W today and tomorrow. lol
I'm a noob at wiring myself. I hope some day I can fully understand how the system works and how I can do it by myself

ok so once i hook up the main power wire, all the relays are now hot, and they same for the main ground. it seems like it would clean up the engine bay.

crap, now im reading everything i find on wiring. i was hoping to get some sleep tonight

Kind of. The ground is also something you'll have to find a place for. Each device you hook to the panel will have to have it's ground put somewhere. Does this help?

Yea only block with relays in it is the bussman system. I built my own setup using the parts as I wire mine with switches on the ground. Less wires to run and safer.

Wiring is fun and I love it. But it is probably the most poorly done thing by most people on rigs. I see a lot of bad wiring jobs. Usually cause people just want the new light to work and are excited and people don't know how to solder correctly.

It's not super hard to keep things clean. Using power/ground blocks, fuse blocks, relays and relay blocks really helps keep things from getting out of hand. Add in wire loom, shrink wrap and soldering and your golden.

Yup, I had to help a friend wire a deer horn on his Pontiac G8. I was trying to solder and put ring terminals on the end of the wiring and he wouldn't let me. Instead he just used one crimp and put the bare wire on the battery terminal.... :annoyed:
