Same, Its 53° here and tonight we will drop to 9°. Tomorrow our high will be 16°. Time go go out and stack some wood.

I read today that Canada has been experiencing Frost quakes, where the warm water seeps into the ground and when the temp rapidly drops it freezes and pushes apart the ground with huge booms. pretty intense.

That picture was taken just west of Hilliard. Pretty sure that creek is frozen solid right now!

They made us leave work at 4 today and closed down for tomorrow. I work inside a heated building.

wtf, bunch of babies around here.

Maybe they want to turn the temp down in the building to save some money. :notsure:

Paying us to sit at home (or go do donuts in corn fields like I plan to do tomorrow) is costing them way more money then that would save.

I know the feeling! Work has been cancelled today and tomorrow:eek: They still have to heat the building. They must be afraid that so many people will call in that they will not be able to run. Those of us that do show up will be paid to sit on our thumbs:rolleyes:

Ya... daughter is in Madison. She's wishing she had pulled snowbird with the in-laws in Palm Beach, but she finally got a job (at Target) and doesn't want to fuck it up.

Here? Threw jacket on this morning at 9 on the way out to the dentist.
Ended up running the AC shopping the rest of the day, changed the oil in the Taco and the Rav, installed my 35w backup lights, put up a new porch light.

Looks like it's going to cool off a bit tomorrow...

So instead of paying some of you to sit on your thumbs, and the slackers burn PTO, they get to pay everyone to sit on their thumbs and get zero productivity.

I have had the frost quakes here in Vermont the past week or so up until last night when the temps rose from below zero to 50 degrees.
When you hear them you think a refrigerator fell on your roof.
My house & yard was all ice 5-8" on top of dense snow.
So much melt off & a downpour today there were flood warnings....
Now 5 degrees again and everything is a sheet of ice..... again

Actually nobody gets paid for cancelled production:mad: We can burn vacation, me, no thanks I'll take mine when it's warm! I can take a two day hit in pay, we don't live paycheck to paycheck. So I'll stay warm and enjoy the long weekend:D

My house is over 100yrs. old. Stopped popping long ago. Creaks a little when we get high winds, 40+mph. Only thing weird is when the ghost turns lights on and off:eek:

I really hate those popping sounds. The loud ones really catch you off guard.

Supposed to hit -8* tonight. A buddy of mine's wife posted a video of him on Facebook. He took a pot of boiling water outside and tossed the water up in the air and it just turned into vapor. Kind of cool. Never did that before.

Yeah the house I'm renting was built in 1989 so you'd think it would be done popping. These are loud though, like someone's lighting fire crackers outside.

Yeah, mine was built in 48 and still does it. Just shit expanding and contracting. Normal or not, its not a comforting sound.

I did the boiling water thing this morning when it was -17F. Watch all that water turn to vapor almost instantly is a sight.
