I got my CCL, the trainer does a good job of explaining what you can and cannot do.

Don't be a ***. I was getting 13 mpgs with a VERY light foot on the highway. Around town or on trails it dropped to about 10. That thing is nice but unless you NEED the space, stick with a taco. Your wallet will thank you.

He can barely keep the taco up and running ... Hello locker.... he's talking about going back to school, has a kid, and already drives a different car to save gas... He already admits to having a heavy foot and that big v8 will do nothing but get him in trouble.

    valid points
    lol
i feel alot more confident with installing this as opposed to the locker wiring. as far as financing this goes i've already thought about the whole process. i would sell the taco and set aside maybe 2500 for mods and the rest would go to down payment. but like i said if i did get the tundy i would only add a headunit with bluetooth/nav/backup cam.

i'll just post then and see who has any hard data.

so I have a concealed weapons permit from Florida. Being the most widely accepted permit, of course it is accepted by the state of texas.

What I do know is that while the florida permit allows me to conceal any kind of weapon (in florida), in texas, you can only conceal a pistol/hand gun.

additionally, from the florida department of agriculture http://www.freshfromflorida.com/Div...nformation/States-Recognizing-Florida-License

they list 3 footnotes, in regard to the florida license in texas.

    (1) While Florida's law allows licensees to carry stun guns, knives, and billy clubs in a concealed fashion, the laws in these states allow for concealed carry of handguns or pistols ONLY, NOT WEAPONS IN GENERAL. Florida license holders are prohibited from carrying other types of weapons while in these states.

    (3) Individuals qualify for concealed weapon licenses in these states upon reaching 18 years of age. HOWEVER, any licensee of these reciprocity states who is not 21 years of age or older IS PROHIBITED from carrying a concealed weapon or firearm in Florida.

    (6) These states issue concealed carry licenses to qualified individuals who are non-residents. These non-resident permits cannot be honored under Florida's reciprocity provision.

    So now for the question
A while back i had heard that even if a state accepts the florida (or any other state's) permit, that if you move to said state, that they would like you to get their own permit. is this so in texas, or can i still use my florida permit?

the reason i ask this question, is because what i heard was 1) a general statement, not directly refferencing any particular states 2) said that they "like" you to have their state's permit at that point, but not "require".

I ask this, because by the time i go through the class, and then wait for the permit to arrive, i may very well be moving back to the east coast already.

I already talked one person out of the bajahaha package. Only reason to get one is if you plan on doing NOTHING else to it suspension or performance wise.

Colin, I'll look into the question a bit and get back to you. I will say that Texas recently passed new laws about our licenses and have gone to great lengths to shorten the wait. For instance, I received my license within a week. The classes have also been shortened from 8-10 hours to 4-6 hours.

Texas is trying to get anyone and everyone that wants a CHL their license as soon as possible.

The other weapons and carry age you have to follow as its the law of the state you are in. I was open carrying my pistol in OK because i could. Their law says so. As you arent a "Texas resident", i wouldn't bother getting one here for 2 reasons. 1. You are covered in the reciprocity and 2 you are talking about moving to a different state.

Im waiting for my chl to come in and regardless of what state I am working in I will never give up my Texas residency. I may get a florida or Utah one as well because then I could carry in basically every state outside of like... 5
