    Do it right the first time, always cost more but in the long run you save money.

    I'm hoping to do what my cousin did. He fabs all of his own stuff but makes a kind of die so he can make them over and over again. He can re-create upper A arms with uniballs in about 4 hours.

    But when it breaks.. He can make it again for about 60$ in materials and tool wear

    They call it a jig. You take the existing arms, build a jig around them, then stretch the jig to fit the geometry you want. That is how most of the aftermarkt control arms are made. The only difference is if you use plate steel and make boxed arms or tube steel and then gusset and plate it to make it stronger.

    BTW it is upper control arms, A arms come on gayass quads.

    Its actually really strong stuff. I didn't know it was called a jig (thanks), but he has one. Its not likely to break that catastrophically to the point where he flips it. The cups for the uniballs are made out of chro-moly. He used some really strong grade of steel.. He's damn good at what he does.

    He probably uses 4130 Chromo 120 wall or 3/16 plate depending on the application as do most fabricators for these parts.

    He used tube for the body of the arm. I'm not sure for the chro-moly.. What ever it is, it looks really good.

    You weld in shop, you need to know the differences between metals and what they work for, grades, strengths, etc. etc. Chromoly is stronger and treated differently than mild. The exterior hardens while keeping the same bulk properties within the interior material.

    Wait till the holidays roll back around. Got that set for 150 bucks, picked it up locally. Craftsman, matco, snapon, and hazet are my favs

    Snap-on and craftsman yes. Matco not a fan of. Both them and mac seem to use lesser quality materials and their sockets are bulkier than those of Snap-on.

    Cornwell is where its at!
